how much water does a pattern 37 canteen hold?
and how much does M1910 Canteen Mug hold? I cant find any specs around the net and would like to know which is larger. Can an M1910 clip onto a belt?

It lists the water bottle as a "2 pint water bottle". I don't know if that is accurate but it sounds about right.

Yes, the water bottle that's used with the Pattern 1937 webbing set has a 2 pint (is that 1 quart?) capacity. It's the same bottle that was used with the WW1 era Pattern 1908 webbing, the only difference being that the WW1 bottles had blue enameling. It was changed to khaki (brown) with the adoption of the P37 set. The mug that was most commonly issued holds 1 pint. There was a 1/2 pint mug, but those are almost "unobtainium."
FYI, for a 1930s pre war look you'll want a white enameled metal mug with a blue rim. Brown mugs didn't start being issued until mid WW2. Jerry Lee at What Price Glory has inexpensive repros of the white ones the last time I checked.
Cheers!

Well, I was wondering the same thing when I posted earlier. But then I thought, "hey, it's a british water bottle, it has to be imperial measure, right?"Kt Templar wrote:I that a US Quart or a Imperial? A US quart is 5/6 of an Imperial. In both 2 pints = 1 quart.
Of course, such flaultless logic as stated above has sunk me before...
I've never actually measured the volume of any of mine. A quart, is a quart, is a quart, I say. The difference couldn't possibly be more than a swig or two, could it?
Cheers!
