Santa comes early....
Yep, that's right....Santa dropped by my house yesterday with a box from Mr. Paul Stenhouse, whipmaker extrodinaire. And I have to say I love it! I was a little concerned about these three little "knots" in the thong of the whip, but my concerns over those places have since been assuaged by Michaelson, Sergei and Paul who explained that they are the "drop points" where the whip transitions from 12 plait, to 10 plait to 8 plait as it tapers to the fall, and that not only are they COMMON to these whips, they are SUPPOSED to be there! Whew...what a load off my mind...
Overall the coloring of the whip is magnificent! It's not dark brown, it's not light tan....it's somewhere just the browner side of tan with some darker colored areas on it...highlights, if you will.
Very well balanced, the custom handle fits perfectly in my hands, and (before I read his note about not cracking it until I had inspected it and decided to keep it) I took it outside to try and crack it....my first throw got a small crack. My second took my breath away-a very loud crack that made my next door neighbor look up from his gardening.
Paul...an awesome job, man! Thank you for one of the best Christmas presents ever!
Anyone who is thinking of trying out the whip part of this hobby....give Paul a call....a fantastic piece of work!
Later y'all!

Great
Dear Indydawg,
You are welcome very much. Please be careful with it, and wear protective clothing.
Best Regards,
Paul Stenhouse

Thanks guys!
I'm really looking forward to working with it and seeing what I can do over the next few months with it....I sure do hope to be getting some tapes, too. And don't worry about the protective clothing....THAT is definately taken care of.
Oh, and Sergei....I don't think you have to worry about that -
Later y'all!

I hear ya on that one! I am STILL looking very much forward to that!
Now, if someone can find the whereabouts of Scott Farkuss, I think I might have a small can left to open up on him...
