Amish Boots look like the Indy Boot

Post by Indiana Texas-girl »

There's a discussion going on over at the Fedora Lounge about Amish hats. One of the guys gave this link:
http://plainlydressed.bravepages.com/me ... sfile.html

If you scroll down about 2/3rds of the way down, check out the boot. It's black but looks just like an Indy boot. So if any of you are looking for an Indy boot in black, here you go. $100

The description reads:
"Plain Toe dress shoe with full leather uppers, leather sole
Old Fashioned, Ankle-High, High Top, Lace-Up Shoe
Black
Good Arch Support"

Nice looking dress boot and the price isn't too bad either.

Oh, I don't know...this has potential...like finding clever ways to hide your cell phone or Star Trek insignia underneath... ;)

Those would be the best close enough boots ever if you could get them in brown.

I wonder if that wool hat would bash into an Indy. ;) The one on the left looks more like a Wyatt Earp or Doc Holiday type. :D

You never know if you don't ask. If anyone orders them in black, would y'all mind askin'.

Yep, but when I saw the boots, the gears in my brain shifted focus to "Wow, black Indy boots!" You know those Amish Rebels like to surf the internet at the local Internet Cafe. Hey did any of you watch the tv show on last year called Amish in the City, where they plucked several Amish young adults out of their community and made them share a huge apartment with a group of non-Amish city young adults? It was like Real World meets Amish World. I wish I had watched more closely for Alden like boots on the guys.

I would be highly surprised if they offered the boots in brown. If it's stuff sold for Amish or Amish "actors," then they're only going to be offered in black. I've lived and been near Amish in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Indiana, and have only ever seen them wear black shoes or boots, unless they were s***kickers, in which case, then they were "brown."

Still, if the stuff isn't made by the Amish themselves, there's a chance they may offer them in brown. It's worth asking, though again, I'd be surprised.

I just emailed and asked them if they could make them in brown or an unfisnished color so you could dye them yourself.
