eBay listing...would Alden '409s' work?

Bags, Boots, Shirts and all other gear should be discussed here.

eBay listing...would Alden '409s' work?

Post by cliffhanger »

Hey all,

I am thinking about getting some Aldens, only for a cheaper price (ala eBay). I see these occasionally; would they be a good subsitute for Indy Boots? Does anyone know about '409s'? They are a darker color, and I think they are my size...just a quandry. Here's the link:

Thanks! Cliffhanger

I would almost have to say those are the 405s. Maybe somebody knows if there is a 409 but those look just like the regular 405s.

Just my $.02,
Pyro.

Pyro,

Yeah, that is what I thought...or that maybe this was a similar pair Alden used to sell. I dunno, but it IS eBay, and people miss label things all the time. :? Oh well...also, there are two more for sizes 8.5 E and 8 E.

Here they are...

It is still better than paying $245 + shipping, IMO (they are Aldens).

Peace, Cliffhanger

I totally agree. If they offered a pair in size 10 I would bid.

Color

Post by LJHood »

What do you guys think about the color? For those that owe the original darker Aldens, how does the ebay pair compare? How do you think this seller go these colored Aldens? Curious stuff. I am an 8.5E so I am very interested to say the least.

They look like the same color as mine when I got them from Alden. That's the "orange-ish" color that nobody cares for. I coated my with Pecards and they turned a brick red.

Cheers,
Pyro.

That's the "orang-ish" color everybody is referring to? Mine were the color of a basketball, almost. I would have killed for this color...

I think there is bad lighting in that photo. It looks like they took the picture near an open window. I believe if you took that pic in good lighting, it would be the classic Alden OJ.

I asked the seller if there were other sizes in the 405's and he said not right now. I could use another pair of 11's...

I know this thread is old, but I just gotta point this out. I too thought that they looked brown, but I think Pyro may be right. If you look on the right you can see the reflection of light from a window, and if you look at the part above the toe that appears to be part of the tongue, you can see the orange color.

P.S. this is to all of you people that don't like the orange color: As big of an Indyfan as I am, I would choose to wear my orange Chuck Taylor All Stars over the correct colored Aldens 405's (if I had a pair of Aldens) any day
