I just sent Wested my order for my Indy jacket. I didn't understand why everyone got so excited about ordering one until now. I hope everything works out. Here's what I got.

Height: 6'1"
Chest: 42
Sleeve: 26"
Jacket_Size: 46 Reg.
Jacket style: Raiders Jacket
Leather: Dark Brown - Durable Goatskin
Lining / Zip: Cotton Body-Satin Sleeves (rec)
Side Fastener: Anodised Black Rectangular Slider(buckle)

Requests:
X-Box Stitching
Reinforced stitching on pockets and hand warmers.
Back elastic "action" pleat.
Leather facing on inside pocket.

Hmmm....

I was under the impression that you had to request the leather facing.

Well, I recieved confirmation of the order in my e-mail this morning so I'm really excited and nervous. HA!

I just hope everything works out all right as far a shipping and the size I gave them. I think I left myself enough room as far as the size and sleeve length. For me it's better that it would be a little bigger than to small.

I didn't get the gussets because I don't have a problem with my sleeves riding up in my other leather jackets so I didn't feel the need to get them.

One thing. You are 6'1" with a 42" chest and 26" arms and you ordered a 46 Regular???
This seems odd.
I am 6'2". I have a 42" chest and 26" arms and I wear a 44 Long, sometimes a 43 Long.
Did you want extra room? Do you have a short torso?
I'm just curious.

Didn't want to take the chance of not having enough room. Both of my leather jackets that I own are extra large and I measured them and they are a 46. I like the way the both fit me. They allow enough room for have extra stuff underneath. It gets mighty cold here in Indiana. Infact we just got a record snowfall of 8 inches in one night here in Fort Wayne.

I have a question...

I ordered the x-box stitching on my jacket because I've read that other people seem to recommend it. What I'm not to clear about is what exactly is it on the jacket and what is it's function?

It's for the sidestraps. People are saying they break off easily, so they get Xbox stitching. It's also screen accurate.

I'm curious about this as well. With your height, you should be getting clothes in the L length, not R. But then again, Wested extended their length in the jackets a few years ago, so a R may look fine for you, if you want that waist length Raiders look.

I tried on some jackets recently both in regular and long and regular fit me better. The "L Length" jackets were just to long.

I guess I'll know for sure when I get my jacket.

Why would Wested ask for my height if they weren't going to take it into account when making the jacket. Wouldn't they add inches if need be?

Did the jackets chest measurements come out to 46 inches total?

If so, then the jackets you measured are either a normal size 42, or
a very roomy size 40.

Wested adds in 4 inches of movement room to their jackets, so if you
ordered a size 46 from them, then the chest is going to measure out
to 50 inches!

If so, then you will have 8 inches of movement room, since you said
you have a 42 inch chest measurement.

Thats really big, and it may hang on you like an empty sack.

Hi Pitfall,

Flathead is right if you lay a jacket flat and measure right across from armpit to armpit then double it, on a Wested at least you will get approx 4 inches more than what it says on the label.

ie a 42 will measure 46.

Upshot is: measure your chest, tell Wested the measurement, they will decide the size.

That does not mean that a size 46 Wested will measure out to be 46
inches.

Think about it. If a guy with a size 46 inch chest bought himself a size
46 jacket, with no movement room, than the jacket would fit like a second
skin! There would be no room for even a thin tee-shirt under it.

All jackets add movement room to them over the tagged size. What
Wested is telling you is that they don't add any more room to what they
already use as their standard sizing.

If you want a jacket with a 46 inch chest measurement, you need a size
42 Wested.

A size 46 Wested will have a 50 inch chest measurement. Thats what
is put into their standard sizing.

My size 44 Wested measures 48 inches total at the chest. This is the
size 44, plus the standard 4 inches of movement room.

My chest is 42 inches like yours. I wanted 6 inches of movement room,
because I wear sweaters and sweatshirts under my jackets.

So, I went a size up, like Wested told you to do, in order to get "extra"
room for myself. Wested does not add more than the standard 4 inches
to their jackets, so they are correct in telling you that if you want a looser
fit, then you have to go a size up.

But you actually went 2 sizes up, and you will get 8 inches of extra room
in your jacket.

You better make sure you are getting what you want, or you will have
one large jacket on your hands.

The best way to prove this to yourself is to send another e-mail to
Wested, and ask them what the actual chest measurement is on a size
42, 44, and 46 jacket. You will see for yourself which one is for you.

Well....

Much to my suprise Santa dropped by my house today a little early and dropped off my Raiders jacket!

The jacket fits just right. I could not be more happy with it. This has got to be one of the coolest jackets I've ever owned. Wested did a great job. I feel like I own a part of movie history. I can't wait to show the rest of my friends and family.

I'll post pics of me and the jacket as soon as possible.

Yes, the jackets do smell great. I love the smell of a brand new leather jacket.

I measured my jacket this morning just to see if anything was added to the measurments I gave them.

The sleeves are 26' like I ordered. The length is the standered length for a 46R which is 25.75 and the chest size is a 48. So it looks like they added 2 inches to the 46R chest size.

For my tastes the jacket is just the right size and length. Infact they could have added 4 inches to make a 50 and it still would have been fine. I can just get a thick fleece sweater under the jacket without it feeling to tight at 48.

As far as the length goes it's a little shorter than my other jackets that I own BUT it's just right for my Indy jacket. My other jackets almost cover my butt and this jacket comes just below my belt line which is perfect because it doesn't cover up my gun belt and holster. As far as I can tell from the pics it looks like the jacket fits just like Harrison's in the Well of Souls and airplane fight scenes.

I will say this the jacket right now is pretty stiff. Will this wear off after a few times of wearing it?

Also, I've got some Wilson's leather protector that I received with my other leather jacket. It says it protects against water stains and dirt and works on all leather. Do you guys think I should use that on this jacket? I didn't want to have to buy any Pecards right now although I know alot of you guys swear by it.

The stiffness will wear off in a few days. You can accelerate the process by crumpling it up in a ball, kicking it, sitting on it, sleeping in it etc. Check this out.

If I start sleeping in this jacket my wife will have me comitted. She already told me that my MKVI bag looked like a purse. Ha!

It's just so nice the way it is. Go figure...

Yeah, I'm being soooo careful with it right now. I'll let it distress on it's own over time. I'll probably use the Wilson's leather stuff on it to protect it from the rain or snow. I'll buy the Pecards stuff later on. I don't want to use something that will darken it up because to me it's just the right color.

I agree that the leather is soft yet feels like it could stop a bullet.

I should have some pics of me in the jacket by this weekend.

I know it sounds loco but sleeping in your jacket for a week or so will definitely soften it up fast. It will loose that new jacket feeling and start to conform to your body. I'm sure your wife will accept it in time. If she questions you, just scream back, "I'm not crazy!" Then, hug the jacket and say, "You're the only one that understands me."
