Roo Skins

Post by ecwhips »

Just got off the phone with Peter from Hardtke Leather and ordered some kangaroo hide. He said he has lots of natural tan, and the skins are the best he's seen in a long time. Prices are pretty good, too, so if any of the whipmakers here need some, give him a call. After the 15th they're closed until Jan. 3 for inventory.

Wow.... that is good news. Finally a relief from quality and supply issues.

Jim,

Just out of curiousity, did he say how big he can get them?

He said they run about 70dm on average. If he knows you're going to be making whips with the skins, he'll try and pull the best ones from the batch.

They must have just gotten another shipment in, cus the last batch I got a couple weeks ago, the nat tan's weren't more than 62dm. Good news, I hope things start getting a bit better.
