When I got mine in September they weren't that dark and the creme polish I used darkened them up to a very nice redish-brown and toned down the welts and stitching.

The other day my wife said that since I wear them so much i should get another pair in a darker shade...is she great or what?

I like the color of those, certainly over the older 'pumpkin' look. As fastidious as I am, I would leave them as they are and let time age them into an authentic shade. But they are yours, so do with them what you will. They are amazing shoes though. Enjoy them.

Um, I think you may have received my Aldens by mistake 8) . I just got a pair last week, and although I don't mind the medium brown color I've got, yours have a much deeper, richer tone to them. At least in pictures. Keep them that color, Indyguy. They look great.

Where do they come from? San Francisco or some other retailer?

I paid alot more

Post by el_peruano »

What? I just got mine about a month ago and with tax, their little pomade of fine boot cream (about 5 or 6 dollars), and 2 day shipping ($20), they were $390. Help me understand the price difference. Mine was a phone order straight to the Alden Shop in San Francisco. What happened here?

$390!!!! Has the price gone up recently? I paid about $280 or $290 for mine back in May. I ordered mine from the San Francisco shap also.

Erri, the color should be fairly uniform. Of course Its possible to get a pair of "old stock". When I ordered mine in May the San Francisco shop accidently sent me the wrong size. When I told them they sent me another pair overnight direct from the factory in MA. The color of the two boots were exactly the same. It makes since considering they all are made in the same place.

I checked yesterday the price and it's not rised up. Sure you haven't been added export taxes?

Wow those boots look great! I like the color perfectly as is. Your pic just got me a little closer.... Enjoy your new boots, and keep us informed as to how you like the wearablity and nuances of them compared to what others have said. Oh yeah, cool pic too!

I received my new Aldens a little over a week ago, from the shop in San Francisco, and I paid $275 plus $8 shipping. I received the shoes in a week. $390 does seem a bit high for a pair of shoes, but that's what I thought about $283. That is, until I started wearing them every day. The really do get more comfortable as you wear them. They don't really even bother my feet on the hard concrete floors anymore. \:D/

I can't remember exactly what my shipping was, but $8 sounds about right. Erri, it gets expensive when you start shipping stuff internationally.

Yeah, I think shipping on my Wested was like thirty bucks or so. Shipping on the Indy jacket I bought from US Wings was about ten. But the Wested was definitely worth the extra shipping charge.
