Well since Wested is making a new jacket I sent them an updated list. Here it is.

Jacket Measurements

Style: Raiders
Hide: Authentic Goat
Slides: New black ones with X box stitching
Zipper: Brass and I am requesting it go to about an inch from bottom
Collar: Smaller, closer to Raiders. Trim ½ inch*
Gussets: Yes, two piece
Press studs: No
Lining: Cotton body with satin sleeves
Storm flap: Standard (Raiders)* See photo
Length: Raiders with inch extra in front
Sleeves: Normal
Elastic in the pleats on the back
Zipper on inside pocket
Pocket flaps: More scalloped* (Match the photo on your web site)
Jacket size: 44 Regular*
Height: 68 inches
Chest: 41 inches.
Back: 20 inches wide shoulder to shoulder by 25* inches long. That’s from base of neck to tail bone.
Arms: Right 23 1/2, Left 23 1/2 (these were the original measurements. If you used these add ¾ - 1 inch) *
Shoulders: 6 1/2
Neck: 17 1/2 inches

I have had a theory here for a while. I currently have 5 Wested jackets - 4 are mine and one I gave to my wife. I had another lamb, but I sold it since it was huge on me.

I do not consider myself fat, yet I experience the same ride-up in the front that is attributed to the pot belly. Every Wested I own has the same thing in common. They are all tight in the chest area when zipped and too loose in the waist for my body type.

I see many pictures here of people where - when their jackets are zipped - you can see the leather pulling across the chest. That tight chest is what is causing my jacket to ride up in front for me, not the belly. Put yours on and take a deep breath and see how the side view looks on yours.

Westeds just may sit too far back on my shoulders, I do not know. If I had an inch or two added to the front the jacket would be perfect in every way. I love the feel and it broke in really well. Easily the most comfortable jacket I own. I think the distressing came out well too. I do not expect miracles when Peter cannot measure us in person, but Rixter is right. Why do we have to ask to have material added? This is not an uncommon problem and it is not simply a matter of a pot belly. You guys know what I look like.

Those are some ToD accurate arms you have that my friend.

I don't quite know whay to think about the ride up thing. I don't understand why one person has the ride up problem, but someone else of similar build doesn't. When I ordered my Wested, I asked for an extra 1.5" in the front to compensate for ride up. However, I've never had a ride up issue, so I now have a jacket that I wish was 1.5" shorter in the front. My jacket is long enough that sitting with it zipped is kind of aquard.

P.S. My jacket is a ToD, so it was long to start with.

So, hows things going Gobler, all quiet on the Western Front?

I took a bit of Agent 5's advise and did a bit of digging, apparently the collar question came up before and they came to a similar conclusion in 2002!

Nope no FS. I was all ready to get one of each and I had a major car problem. That took all my money

so I had to wait once more. I finaly had the extra $ to go for a Wested. {erhaps in the future I may get a FS but I want a whip first

I'm still waiting on this Wested and hope to have it by Halloween 8-[ It's geting cold here in LA now...well cold for us.

Instead of starting a new thead I updated the old one.

Well I just recived an e-mail from Gemma that my jacket is ready and Peter will bring it with him.

That I find very cool indeed. However, not only did they not trim the collar but they put the D rings on it for some reason. After three phone calls and countless e-maiils...I'm sure I'll love my new jacket but darn it, now I'll have to get the D rings replaced here in the states. I'm a bit put out by this whole thing.

Peter, if you should read this befor you leave can you bring some sliders with you to replace the D's?

Wow, that's really nice of him to bring the jacket. With the money you'll be saving on shipping and customs, you can apply that towards getting rings switched out.

If he brings/sends some sliders I think you can do it yourself. I turned my sliders round and they are open ended.

I think it's great too that the jacket will be delivered but I have to say - I'd be really bothered by the fact that the new instructions weren't followed again. It could only be a matter of someone just not paying attention, but from everyone's comments that's perfectly acceptable. I know it's a good deal on a jacket and everyone makes mistakes but after sending it back, it should be as ordered. Gobler, I personally don't think the collar looks too large on the first jacket, they seem to shrink after forming them a bit - but I know it's an issue for you..maybe someone locally can alter it (more money out of your pocket). Also, you can turn the Drings around and they work a lot better IMO. All I can say is try to enjoy your new jacket.

I don't want to open an old can of worms but Gemma's messages can be a little blunt, and that's just my opinion - I know everyone else here loves her or atleast has not formed the same opinion. If I got that note from her I'd politely write back and point out that constantly sending the jacket back is not a trivial matter.

Mmm, not the best of responses I must admit. But I bet you this week has been frantic for them... your boss is going away to meet up with a huge chunk of your customers and wants to take stuff with him...

And... Peter is hand carrying your jacket across halfway round the World for you so that should count for a lot. They may have run out of sliders, the d rings are sturdier anyway. You can probably find some sliders in a haberdashers they are only black adonised rectangles of wire.

Let's see how it fits, much of the wing effect is due to new leather that hasn't relaxed yet. You will also be amongst loads of Wested wearers so you can get their honest opinions. Maybe you can kick it around the floor at Winstons in a group distressing like we used to do at school when we got a too new leather jacket back in the old days. Or maybe not

I feel the Anxiety from my first Wested order creeping up on me again.
I was a mess from the time I placed the order till the jacket arrived.
When Then I was ecstatic with joy.....
until my wife said:

"you sure it's not to small?"

"WHAT?" said I.

"It looks small to me!" said she.

"NO no no no?!?" said I

But she was right ( as always )

For some time I contemplated what to do, send it back for refitting or sell
it and just order a new. In the end I sold it (with a small $ loss) to a friend
of mine whom it fitted perfectly, and ordered a new and bigger one. I am so
pleased with it that I've put all my other jackets in the closet and only
wears my Wested

I really hope your new jacket will be a perfect fit and I'll cross all appropriate extremities until it arrives.

Really? I was told and I've read other people that tried to order a smaller collar and were either ignored or told straight up that it was just something they couldn't do b/c it'll become a problem if they have to return it and Wested has to resell it.

Hmm... that might have been the pockets. I know that's been said about the pockets.

But they have two different collar sizes, a special BIG one for LC. So I think they DO have collar mods.

Both of these issues are solved when you realize you cannot return it with these modifications. The Chris King spec collar is always available, which is a smaller collar. Same with pockets. He'll make them smaller , but you can't return it. Peter made the pockets slightly larger for ease of use of the hand warmer pocket. If you own a flightsuits, or have seen one, the pockets are more screen accurate on these. They are small and if you have large hands, you'll never get them in the handwarmer. I have small hands, so they are not a problem

Thats my understanding too.

IMHO the Wested pockets are too big for many jackets. They look ok on larger sizes like mine that is a 46L. However if you wear a 38S for example, the pockets look too big. As far as the hand warmer pockets go, I don't care much for them. Mine always wanted to stay open when the jacket was zipped. In fact I finally velcro'd them shut

I'm pretty sure Wested keeps the same proportion when making pockets to the jacket. An example is that on my size 46 jacket, I used to be able to fit two DVDs perfectly in a snug fit in the pockets. Since I got my 44, I have not been able to put one DVD in the pocket.

Well I'm back from day one of the QM and Peter not only handed me my new jacket he helped me put it on

I'm just so happy with it! I love the fit. The leather is so soft you may mistake it for lamb but it's goat. Yes I will get plenty of photos and I'm sure you will see it in the QM section within a few days. Very tired so I'm going to bed.

Right, but let's try to be considerate, too.

Not sure how you saw the pictures, but if you met him in person at the QM, you'd probably call him 'stout' instead - you know, like someone you don't want to make mad, cause he's built like a tank. Forget the fifty friends standing behind him with bullwhips.

But we don't need to go there.

You also might get to know him on a personal level - last year this guy was kind enough to send another member who had his golden idol shattered by hooligans (er, friends) another cast from a similar mold so he could make himself another one. We offered to chip in for it, but Gobler I understand just sent it for free. But we don't need to go there either.

Ultimately, it's how you want to be addressed and treated when you post pics of yourself that maybe ought to stick in the back of your mind. You'll probably want folks to be kind when you put your face out there, too.

Now, all that said...I think Gobler's holding out on us.

Gobler, you've got one more funny story for us about when Peter presented you with your jacket that I haven't seen posted yet. I'd post it, but I wasn't there - you told it to me well enough, come on, I think everyone else will get a kick out of it too.

I said "no offense" twice. I never called anyone fat. If you have seen Tommy Boy, Chris Farley is making fun of himself! He puts on David Spade's jacket which is so rediculously small the sleeves come up to the middle of his arms, starts singing fat guy in a little coat, he leans forward, and RIP!

Well I had to take the jacket to a local tailor for a small repair and a tweak in the sleeve length. The left hand warmer pocket seam some how cam undone about a ¼ inch so that needed to get fixed pronto. What was my fault, the sleeves were a tad too long so I had them taken up about ¾ of an inch which will be perfect. Peter even told me they were going to take off that much on my next jacket. Good eye Peter. I would have to say the only critique after a month would be the action pleats. They puff out a little too much for my tastes but what can you do? When I get my jacket back (on the 14th, just in time for Kong) I will get plenty of photos, I promise.
