Has anyone covered a wooden handle on an inexpesive whip?

Post by Prof. Ed »

Hi all,

I bought a whip off Ebay., quite inexpensive. It will have to serve me for a while. I would like to know if anyone has experience with covering a wooden handle?
The whip would look better, hopefully.
If you have done this, please share some techniques, etc.
If you think that this idea is one that really can't work, I'll listen:)

Indiana Jerry asked this exact same question last year, and it was one of the inspirations for my developing the Indy-on-a-Budget bullwhip.

Use the 'search' feature with "wood handle bullwhip" and you should be able to find the post, "Can this Handle be braided over". He got some good advice from me and Simon Martin.

I see in the FS section you have some knives that you want to trade for a Hubertus. Let me know if you might have some knives (or a knife) you would trade for an IOAB bullwhip.

Adam,

Sounds like an idea. Give me a thought as to what you like and the prices of the whips and I'll see what I can come up with for you. PM or email me.

Thanks,

Heh. Both the whips I do own are from the 80's. The one is an 8ft whip and the other is a 12ft whip. Both have wooden swivel handles and they drive me nuts.

When I was younger I was running with one in my "custom made" whip holder one time and the handle slipped out and cracked me on the knee. The handle is thick wood and it has a metal rod in the middle and it hurt like the devil.

Can't wait to buy an authentic whip. :)

Don't worry, Harry. "Real" Indy whips hurt like He$$ when they crack in the knee cap, too

Hi Ed,

I checked my email, and I replied to your initial mail. I'll also reply to your latest PM.

When you search, don't put all three words in quotes just type all three words in (wood handle bullwhip), and then chose "search for all terms". You can do the same for "IOAB" or "winrich". I know the search feature is a tad more complicated than Google, but not by that much.
