"A competitor. He was good. He was very, very, good."

I was just bidding on that same hat! I actually don't feel too bad about losing though and I find some comfort in knowing that it is going to a fellow COW member. Wear it well, it is a beauty.

By the way, if you find the hat not to your liking you have a buyer lined up.

I worked on it, I worked on it!

I really like this hat, but I don't know if I'd change the ribbon to make it more Indy-looking? :-k

About the ribbon.I think it will be good idea to change it for dark ribbon.
It will be more Indy style.

Looking at the seller, havershaw is a fellow over at the Fedora Lounge. A serious hat collector, so you can be assured it's a nice hat. He has some other ones I would've bid on if they weren't way too small for me. But it's a nice hat you've won. I almost bid on that hat! If it were me, I'd keep it the way it is and not change a thing. It's good to have an Indy hat, but variety is the spice of life. I like to keep good vintage hats as they are. Wear it in good health!

I'm no expert, but I'd say keep it as it, too. It's already not a "real" Indy hat by its crown shape and edging, so changing the ribbon would only be altering a really cool antique piece of clothing you acquired. It's a really sharp item the way you bought it (it looks new, too!).

This discussion reminds me of a comedian I saw years ago who juggled as part of his act. One of his props was a hatchet, and he claimed it was the same one that George Washington used to chop down the legendary cherry tree, "Except I had to replace the handle."

"And the head. But it still takes up the same space as the original."

Nooooooooooooooo! Dont change it! And if you cut off the edging around the brim, why I would----oh, uhh, never mind! Thats a great hat you got there, but please, for the love of hats, dont change it, it looks magnificant the way it is now.

The real Henry,

Could you please put a space between your WOOOO and your HOOOO in the subject line so that it is two words instead of one. That way we won't have to scroll back and forth on the index page. Thanks.

Nice hat, but leave it as is IMHO. Every hat doesn't need to be an Indy hat.

PS Shorten the subject of this topic. I'm tired of scrolling left and right.

Man, I'm so afraid over here, that the hat won't fit, cause my size is a bit bigger then 7 1/4! :? But against the opinions of some members I'll change the ribbon!

WOOOOO...- Ok I won't say it! I got the fedora today and it's so beautyfull ! \:D/ I gave it a Bogart-style bash and I think that's the best one for this hat. The felt is very thin and smooth! And the the best think( and what I was most nervous about!) it fits perfect!

Ummm... can you show us pics with you wearing your "new" hat? I think it's nice that you kept the same kind of bash that would've been on that hat to begin with. The Indy bash is cool, but it doesn't suit every hat. It's good to be able to recognize what looks best for the hat. Well done!
