Alden Re-tread

Post by prettybigguy »

After 3 years I finally had the Alden 405s, that I bought from Fritz in Sherman Oaks, CA, on the day I attended my first Indy summit. Since moving back to the midwest, my Aldens haven't seen a lot use in the winter months due to their lack of tread. The heals were also worn out so I brought them to shoe maker near my office and here is the result. I'll be sure to let you know how they fare this winter!

PrettyBigGuy,
Great looking Aldens!
Did you use Brown Pecards on them?
That's what I use on mine and they have a similar burgundy color now.
I also notice you kept the outer threads white (so did I).

How much did your re-treads cost?
Looks terrific - now go muss them up a bit. :D

Nice boots! They look very well loved. The tread even looks good. Let us know how they work out.

Best Regards,
They started out with the "russet" color (as you can see on the inside of the boot in the 1st pic) and I had them dyed. I have been thinking of using the brown pecards but I usuallu shine them with brown cream shoe polish and standard pecards. Also, the stitching is still because it's brand new!
I was considering getting more of a waffle, combat boot sole, but I decided that these should give me plenty of traction without comprimising the original look.
