Indydawg takes the whip plunge....
Yep, that's right, I've FINALLY taken that final step of this gear collecting and ordered myself a whip. Should be in hand in a couple of weeks according to Paul Stenhouse (thanks again, Paul for taking up the time to get my order exactly right and helping me fill in the blanks)....
I'm really excited about it actually....can't wait to see what Paul is going to have for me!!!
Thanks Sergei for all the help and advice! And for putting me in touch with Paul....
And I'd like to thank my mom, and God....oh, wait, this isn't the Oscars;-)
Anyway....just thought that it might be of interest that I am AT LONG LAST getting into the whip stage of this hobby.
Now, if anyone has a Lee Keppler whip holder they'd like to sell me really cheap....
Later y'all!

And after the Atlana police arrests you two...
....I guess I'll have to drive down and try to bail you out, right? Sheesh! (grins) Regards. Michaelson

Are you kidding?
Two young, dashing, good lookin' guys like us wouldn't NEED the whips to get the waitresses attention !! But I do look forward to that brew when you arrive. Might even have some of Indydawg's Special Home Brew to take home with you if you time it right...
And Michaelson....BAIL? I figured a man of your talents would just stick to an Indy style jailbreak....
Later y'all!

I WAS Glad To Help Ya!
Well IndyDawg, with the holidays approaching you had to make a decision fast.
Just to be fair, IndyDawg reviewed all the options available to him (DM, Joe Strain, etc.) and Paul came through. For the money - $30 per foot, quality, durability, and Indy style looks you can't beat a Paul Stenhouse whip. It's a shame that he is too many other hobbies to totally dedicate his time all towards us. ) Just kidding, Mr. Bagpipe-man. )
And I am so happy you took the plunge in this great hobby-sport of whip cracking. As I say to all newcomers, please practice safely when first starting out. And I highly recommend one of the introductory videos like the "Whip Cracking Made Easy" series.
You don't want this to happen to ya!

I don't know, I've always been one to blend in... disappear.

Sure bail, IndyDawg...
...you know, bail-ing wire, tied around the bars to pull them out with...well, let's not give away to much of the plan. Don't worry, Sergei. I've been 'advising' our young friend off line all afternoon on the dangers of the art, so he's primed and ready to lock and load when it arrives. Regards. Michaelson

But Sergei,
One cannot live on whips alone! Not to say that I make a living at it, but I also enjoy the bagpipes. They are just so dang loud, it's awesome!
I'd devote my entire time to this if people would pay a whole lot more for my work. What? No takers? I don't blame you!
That's okay, because I couldn't in good conscience charge that much either!!!!
Best Regards to All,
Paul Stenhouse

Yeah....
I've already heard plenty of horror stories.
I was SO wanting to give myself one of those identical scars like Harrison Ford has in the Indy movies-you know, just for "screen authenticity's sake"....yeah, right....
Michaelson's right....I'll be ready when it gets here to START SLOWLY and try not to hurt myself.
And don't worry, a FULL report will be forthcoming when the whip arrives...
Later y'all! Gotta go ride around the neighborhood puttint out flyers with Mrs. Indydawg for her "Southern Living At Home" business....
Back at y'all soon...

God Bless You, Sir! And may a special place in heaven (with your bagpipes) be reserved for you, where everyday you are served a pint of the best stout by young maidens (spoken with a heavy Irish accent).Paul_Stenhouse wrote:But Sergei,

Re: Are you kidding?
Yeah, but as HJS would say, they do come in quite handy for taming out-of-control sopranos and tenors!!!Indydawg wrote:Two young, dashing, good lookin' guys like us wouldn't NEED the whips to get the waitresses attention !!

OK--HJS teaches vocal and choral music here at HSU, and let's just say that certain singers (sopranos and tenors in particular) have a tendency to get out-of-line and full of themselves (especially sopranos, who often have "I think I'm a diva" syndrome.) Sorry, it's the musician in me...instrumentalists always rip on the vocalists (at first we called them "mouth majors", now they're just "throats.) Way off the topic, but I hope that clarified it for you. The bullwhip comes in handy every now and then for those unruly throats.

Ahhh....
Thanks, Maryon....
I was beginning to think I had missed an inside joke. I hate when that happens....
Yeah, in my line of work, too, I could think of MANY uses for it-IF it weren't for those pesky public school rules against having "weapons" at school. I would imagine I could get alot better control of my unruly 9th graders if I could crack that whip every now and then
Ah well....I'll just be glad when it finally gets here.
Later!

Hmmm..
I guess you've never been an educator in the Nazi regime that is the public education system....
Ok, maybe Nazi is a bit strong....but dictatorship is DEFINATELY not too far out of bounds.
Oh to have that PhD....

Well....
I can't either...
Actually, I CAN wear it to school, but I cannot wear it inside the building.
Public school sure doesn't allow you much freedom in almost every aspect...
Oh, well, it pays the bills (barely).

LOL....
Thanks, Maryon....
And at least some of the time, I agree with you ....just kidding. The actual act of teaching is one of the greatest feelings in the world, and I love it. It's all the bureacratic BS (Fools....bureacratic Fools!!!!) that teachers have to put up with, the @#$% we get from parents/the media/general public, and a pay scale that is surpassed by most every employment agency in the world that gets to you the rest of the time....
BUT...I seriously digress from the topic and anything that needs to be talked about on this forum....no more of this rubbish....back to gear talk!
I am ANXIOUSLY awaiting my call from Paul to let me know my whip is finished....can't wait to get it in hand!!!!
Later y'all!
