The Mummy Holster

I know this is not Indy, but I thought you all might help. I have a customer who is interested in the shoulder holster that Brendon Frasier wore in the Mummy. I tried to find if anyone in cyberland sells them, to no avail. Are there any gearheads that know where to buy one? Even some screen grabs of the holster would help. Thanks all!

Well... The gun is said to be an 1873 French Officer's Lebel Revolver, at least one of them, and a quick search told me there are in fact shoulder holsters for it around.

Not sure whether that was used as a prop or not, as his rig is a dual holster.

I'll let you know in case I find any pics of the real deal for comparison.

To me the Mummy shoulder holster looks like two modern holsters the have had the elastic straps removed and have been hooked together in the back with leather straps. Possibly Bianchi or Safariland brand holsters.

I see Wested also did some work for all the SW movies, except for Ep. 3. I wonder if they just haven't updated their page since Ep. 3 came out.

I posted up asking about the Mummy holsters as well. Those double holsters are soo awesome. I think I saw an EBAY bid on a replica or something of them about 5 weeks ago. Technically, I think all they are are two leather holsters combined with some rigging cut and attatched. etc. (like said up above).

On Todd's main page its listed under the Indy gear that he sells holsters from the mummy but theres no product info.I wonder whats the update on that?

You have some great stuff on your site. Your Indy gear stuff looks very authentic, too.

Thanks. I tell you I have made three and when I sold one on Ebay that was not right I had trouble getting barely more than the material cost out of it. They take many hours apiece to make. I wish him well but doubt there is much money in it.

Yeah, I will offer the holsters. I have made a few sets, but need to get my pictures up and work out a final price. Man, was that pattern hard, or what? It looks easy, but getting the curves just right to make it sit flat and snug...what a nightmare! I don't even remember how many patterns I went though! Anyway, I'll get around to finalizing this after Halloween.

I would love to compare with you. I still know mine is not exact but it is made for me and I am bigger than Brendon so it is exact for how I need it. I would love to see yours and it is a pleasure to meet the only other person around who has undertaken this task. You must love the movie and the character as much as me. I confess, now don't throw tomatoes, I like the character of Rick even more than Indy. Ouch, that hurt. I said don't through tomatoes. I still love Indy.

Paul, I will send you a pm. Your sculpting is fantastic! Too bad you're in Orlando! A few years ago I worked on "Batman: Dead End" and they had a cape made out of the actual "Batman Returns" mold. You would have liked to see that.

I tend to be less of a fan of a character than I am of the costuming. I think those double holsters were very cool (even though they flapped around a lot). They really have to be custom fit, and I think I have an easy system to do that.

Again; Great costume! Did you make it all from screenshots or did you get any hints of what the gear was from other sources aswell?
The weapons are of course copies of what exists in real life, but do you know if the rest of it in the movie was all custom? (I.e. the boots being miltary ones or such.)

I checked out John Bloomfield on IMDB and it turns out he designed the costumes for 'Waterworld' and 'The Postman' aswell as 'Robin Hood -Prince of Theives' and the Christofer Columus movie.
You can of course say what you like about those movies, but the costumes are pretty cool nevertheless I think.

NOw that Todd's sells the leather gear for o'connel, anyone have ideals what kinda of pants and shirts he wears? I'm guessing most of us would just wear the indy shirt and pants tucked into some tall boots.....

The revolvers that Rick carries are M1873 Chamelot Delvigne French Ordnance Revolvers in 11mm. I have two in my colllection. I've loaned one to Todd so that he can make copies. He may sell resin copies, or send the specs to Japan to see if they can make blank firing ones, like he did for Indy's Smith and Wesson.

The rifles that Rick and his Legionnaires carry are 8mm Lebels.

Todd makes a very nice Mummy rig!

I've made a few Mummy rigs myself. But whoever said there is not much money in it after all the work it takes to craft them to someone's measurements wasn't kidding. And Todd is right, they are very floppy. They're basically just buckets attached to modified suspenders but a very odd design in my opinion.
