round shoulders look problem, NEW PICTURES
As I mentioned in another thread before I don't like the look of my shoulders in my wested:
This jacket wasn't made to my mesurements, so it can't fits me perfect at all.
BUT
A friend of mine just got a 20 years old motorcycle jacket which was really a bit too large to me. The shoulderpart and sleeves where sewn together in a way like suitcoats are made. And guess what, I had perfect shoulders in it, although the jacket was too large to me.
I might be ready for a new wested next year and I'm thinking of asking Peter if he would make me a Raiders jacket with such different shoulders.
What do you think?

well, I really should ask what that would cost me. What fears me a bit is that it might look too big on me
now to something compleatly different:
If I would buy a new jacket with the "suit coat speccification", how would this look like in general and how would the arm moving in such a Raiders jacket be?

I think a wee bit of padding would sort you out.
When I popped in to the Wested shop and tried a few jackets on I had the same problem. Gerry suggested adding a small bit of padding to the shoulders and it appeared to make a difference. Not big, Linda Evans "Dynasty" raging '80s shoulder padding, just a wee bit.
That being said, I have yet to see the finished product - I pick it up Saturday.

I don't think that looks bad at all. If ot really bothers you I would go with the padding. Your body shape is what it is, I doubt modding the pattern would fix the problem without changing the way the jacket is supposed to look. You have a drape problem, and the easist way to fix it would be to raise the edge of the shoulder a bit....padding would be the way to go.

I wouldn't base much on that picture alone.
Two questions:
1) Got a picture where you aren't standing sideways on a hill? It might be resulting in a skew of your shoulders - if even one shoulder is lower, it's going to reflect in the jacket drape.
2) What kind of lining do you have in that? The satin lining may slide off the shoulders a bit.
But all that said, I think it looks fine, what are you worried about?

I've got to toss my vote on the pile, my friend. That jacket looks GREAT on you as it is! It's still hard to see what your 'problem' is, as the two top photos are of the jacket zipped, and the one of you it's unzipped, so there's no way to make any kind of comparisons. The one on you is GREAT! (wow, I used caps on 'great' twice in the same post! )
Seriously, I just don't believe you have the problem you THINK you have.
Your jacket looks just fine.
Regards! Michaelson

I know exactly what you mean.
In his own way, Michaelson is right, but if YOU don't think it looks right, that's what matters.
Just today, I received my Wested horsehide Raiders. I asked specifically for a slight bit of padding in the shoulders. It's not as much as a suit coat, but it's just enough to take away the droop, and it works perfectly. It's still Raiders, but it also looks like I've got some shoulders.
I don't think it's a big deal for a tailor to open up the seams on the lining and sew in some pads.
Other than that, your jacket looks really good.

This is the problem I see with many men's shirts and jackets. The seam that connects the shoulders and the sleeves should be on the top, outer edge of the shoulder. Most men wear shirts and jackets where the seam is somewhere down the arm, which makes the shoulders look round, makes the front and back baggy, makes the whole thing look ill-fitting.
Check out this picture:
That's how a jacket should fit.

JP, I was just thinking it might be the same thing. The shoulder-to-shoulder measurement on a standard jacket might be a tad wide for you.
If so, then just changing that measurement would possibly sit the shoulder seems correctly, removing any apparent sag. And that would be a more elegant solution than re-engineering the shoulders or adding shoulder pads. The shoulder pads just fill out the shoulders, so maybe the key is you just need the shoulders of the jacket brought in to where YOUR shoulders are.
Note that HF appears to have that sag half the time anyway, so I'd say you are screen accurate. But still, if you don't like it, you are free to change it.
Of course, if you do make the back narrower at the shoulders, you might need to make it up in the sleeves or now THEY will be too short. I wouldn't guess at this, I'd use it as an excuse to visit Wested for a personal fitting.
But I still think it looks great as is.

BreinederIndy,
I think it looks fine, but I also think I know what it might be that is bothering you; it is a custom jacket... for someone else. It is a little wide in the shoulders for you. It is close-enough, but still a bit wide. If it were made for you, it would fit perfectly. As schorsch said, the shoulder seam falls a bit too far down the arm.
It is a good TOD look though.

I think the jacket looks great on you! We are NOT manequins (and manequins do not have to move). If the shoulders were exactly where you wanted them (as in the photo), every time you moved your arms forward the jacket would pull too tight across your back. It looks great, my friend...and it looks great ON YOU!

I think they both look fine on you. I think maybe in the first pic you posted your arms look like they are in a unatural position ( forced to far back).
I think the fit is fine. Sometimes we become too critical of ourselves when seeking perfection. I tend to do that and it isn't healthy ( heart attack @ 52).
I would be thrilled to own a Wested (wish somebody had an old 44R for sale). If it fit like yours, I would be a happy Ol' Prof. Ed.
Enjoy it. Try shoulder pads if you wish. They are cheap and you can Velcro them in. Remember, that as the shoulders get higher the sleeves get a bit shorter.
From your pics you have a little length to play with.
My very best regards to you,
Prof. Ed
