One dirty Indy fedora

Post by Fedora »

Strider sent his hat back for a clean and reblock. He wanted me to take pics of it, before and after. I just zipped him an email telling him the hat looks great, all soiled up like it is, and the block shape still looks good to me. Course the liner and sweat look pretty rough, and dirty. Man, you sure wore this hat!!! Make me feel all proud inside. I think he wants it nice and new looking for the summit in November. Ok, here she is. Surf around for several photos of this hat. Thanks, Fedorahttp://public.fotki.com/Fedora/hats/dirty_ab.html

I think that is his "fight" hat. Man, that hat does look good though! I hope he took pics wearing it before he sent it! :D

Steve, you should refuse to do anything to the hat. Its just now starting to look good! 8) How in the world did Strider get his hat that dirty?

Fedora, Don't do it! Send the hat back to him just like that.

Strider: The simple solution is to buy another hat from Steve. One to keep clean. That one is just starting to look great. That is my kind of hat!

My further personal suggestion is to have a raven bar AB to keep clean and a Streets of Cairo for ADVENTURE with DIRT!

You are correct. 8)
J_Weaver wrote:How in the world did Strider get his hat that dirty?
I got into a knock down, drag out fight whilst wearing it. There was a lot of dirt.

It may look good in the pictures, but that's because Steve takes such good pictures. In person, I see a little front to back taper when I look at it, plus some side to side taper. Just a tad, nothing huge, but the hat had the @#$% beaten out of it. I just wanted it looking nice and spiffy when I go to the QM, thus the reblock. :)

Maybe I should get into a fight in my Wested now.

Go ahead and re-block it Steve, please. :)

I agree with evryone , leave it as is. thats proof that you should let these things aged naturally and not distress them.

Strider, I think you can lay claim to the best "Indyfied" AB in the known realms of IJ fandom. As good as it looks though, I don't blame you for getting it cleaned and reblocked. It wouldn't look good walking into work with it looking like that.

That's pretty much it. :) Even though it looks good with a Halloween costume because of the distressing, my Adventurebilt is more of an everyday hat for me. Ren knows what I'm talking about. I also feel that walking around wearing it with all that dirt and dust all over it is going to lead to more "Indy prodding", which is what got the hat dirty in the first place. I would like to break that cycle NOW.

Fedora, if you're reading this, please reblock the whole thing, clean it up and send it home. It misses the head it normally sits on, or maybe it's the other way around.

And I think even Indy would have cleaned his fedora, as you can see when he is in Donvan's apartment in LC.

Well, I would say Indy owns more than one Fedora. One for the field and several for dressing "good".

Keep in mind hats there part of the fashion back "in the days".

Ok, Strider lucked out as I have several 7 1/4 blocks and he did not have to wait like he normally would have, for one to come open. I cleaned and reblocked his wonderfully distressed hat and creased it like Prairie's that Strider is smitten with. Here she is ready to mail back. http://public.fotki.com/Fedora/hats/str ... lock2.html As usual, there are several pics posted, just surf around. Sorry for the pics that are blurred, but I am snowed under and was in a bit of a rush. regards, Fedora

No apology necessary, sir, we are well aware of the pace you keep yourself at. I appreciate that you can even check in daily!

Heh, thanks! The Wested got nice and distressed while I was at it, too, but I went and cleaned that all up also. :P

I dunno what's wrong with me! For some reason or another, I absolutely love the way the "after" pictures look when compared to the "before"s. Trust me, it ain't gonna be easy resting on my haunches waiting to get this hat back! :D
