The Rhyme and Reason of Blocks?
This is a question for those who have some experience in looking for the best Indy blocks.
My question has to do with the style numbers 51-60.
Naturally, We'd all look for a 5 3/4"- 6" Crown, then our Hat size 7-8, but I've seen blocks that range from 52, 56, 58, and even 60. I'm just wondering if the increase in number relates to the increasing straightness of front, back and side straightness (taper) or not. Is there a rhyme or reason to these style numbers?
Curious

Sorry
Hey Michealson : Oooops I guess I was abit convoluted in my description and explanation
As an example...
On the bottom of a block you'll have say.....
6 7 52...which is 6 inch height, size 7 and style number 52
I'm pretty sure the last number is style as a 7 would be a 56cm, but you can have 6 7 51-60's. It's been said the number 60 is the best LC style so I'm keepin an eye out.
I was trying to sort out if there was an increase in straightness on the block as it went from 52-60.
Sorry about that...

From blocks to lids....
Hey JP..it certainly will be exciting if you get back in the business. I'm starting to look around for a new lid and am just abit skiddish of ebay offerings.
If the quality and the blocks are good...I'll be at he doors when you open.
P.s. Just saw part of Seabisuit last night and sure love that grey with the bound edge....beeeauuuutiful indeed.
Warm Regards
