Wested Shirt and Pants
Since i'm plannig to buy in a future the Wested set including Jacket, Shirt and Pants i have some doubts and questions i would like to share with you:
I wonder how screen accurate are these two piece of gear (pants and shirt).
Canyon suggested me to go for a Wested shirt instead of a WPG. What's your thought about it? Which one is more screen accurate? I personally prefer the Wested look more than WPG.
Do the wested shirts worth their price? (more than 100 euro for a shirt is not a joke, well not for me)
Do the pants worths their price aswell?
In the shirt details don't ask for sleeve measurements. How could i be sure they will be long enough? I'm a size Medium but with long arms. Anyone had experiences with this ... mh.. sort of things?
Is the pants colour screen accurate?

The Wested shirt and pants are very close to my impression of the screen-accurate gear. The shirt certainly has a fit that makes one look very "Indysque". I sometimes see the Raiders shirt as being a little more wrinkled, but I guess that will come with age.
The pants are called "pinks" for a reason. They change color in various lightings. Most of the photos I've done with them shows different appearances, so as for screenaccuracy You will have to compare the color in the same lighting conditions - which IMO is impossible (who wants to set the homebar on fire just to compare with the Raven Bar-lighting?). They do however have the look I want and they are great to wear.
Cheers

I know there is a little discrepancy over the flaps on the back pockets of the pants and people would prefer them to be more scalloped but you might be able to get that fixed by a local tailor with the excess length in the leg.
There arent many choices for pants so its wested or MBA and with the MBA prices being ludicrously expensive I would definitly recommend Wested!

I hope you don't mind erri_wan but I'd like to chime in my own question that you may not have thought of that could maybe help both of us. I noticed that the Wested pants are 100% wool, now is this uncomfortable or itchy to wear? Plus I imagine its dry clean only correct?
I was going to opt for the L.L. Bean pants after I thought about that but if someone could answer this I would appreciate it!

Colby - the Wested pants are not itchy nor uncomfortable to wear. Keep in mind people feel the effects of weather differently. I wore my Wested pants on a day trip in 85+ degree weather.
Yes, they are dry clean only.
If the Wested pants fit in your budget, I say get them!
They are a high quality piece of Indy Gear. You will not be disappointed.

You're right VP sometimes i still think in LIRE! they would have been around 100.000 lire (our old coin) and well i never spent 57 euro for a shirt in my life so, well my question stands. But from all the feedbacks about those shirt it seems they worth the priceVP wrote:The Wested shirt is 57 euros and shipping.erri_wan wrote:more than 100 euro for a shirt

I don't mean to hijack Erri-Wan's thread here, but since we are on topic w/ the Wested pants, if I could ask a question...Do the Wested pants resemble the Raiders or Last Crusade color?
After watching LC, I kinda saw how Indy's pants had more reddish/pink to them as compared to Raiders. Anybody have any feedback on this particular issue?
I too am kinda torn between purchasing a pair of the LLBean Dress Chinos vs. the Wested Indy pants. Both look good....ahhhh, decisions, decisions, lol....
Kindest Regards,
Captain D
p.s- Erri-Wan, I have a Wested Indy shirt (Raiders buttons), and I couldn't be happier with it. It looks and feels great! (certainly not as thin as the MBA Indy shirt that was offered a few years back, but it has been very durable and well-made thus far).

the wested shirt is very very good. you wont be dissapointed by its quality. It seems you do not know your measurements. If you are going for a full set of gear at one point I reccomend you spend just that little extra and go to a tailor and have him measure you. it wont cost that much that information will be very useful when you order something as expensive as a wested jacket and pants etc as you can send it to them and you wont get something you cant wear. there isnt any room for error.
Well i measured my arms and my waist but the fact is that about the shirt, when you order it they just ask you if you want it SMALL MEDIUM LARGE etc. and nothing else. Seems a bit reductive to say just MEDIUM. I mean, how could i be sure the sleeves will be correct?Vannevar wrote:the wested shirt is very very good. you wont be dissapointed by its quality. About the pants they offer 32" waist and 34"... i'm 33". About this i sent them an email just this afternoon to see if they can offer me a 33inches waist pair pf pants
Well you can always email them what information you have and ask them which would best fit you.erri_wan wrote:Well i measured my arms and my waist but the fact is that about the shirt, when you order it they just ask you if you want it SMALL MEDIUM LARGE etc. and nothing else. One or two days are quite ok. I'm not rushing to buy these clothes. I first need all the money. I want to buy jacket, shirt and pants together so i save the cost of the shipment.
Anyway thank you eveybody for convincing me everyminute more to buy those things till few months ago i still used to think "57 euro for a shirt it's madness?" and now look at me i'm really a COWman!
I would like to say also that this hobby (or "virus" like someone may want to define it) is as expensive as useful. I mean you dont spend a lot of money for things that you wont ever touch. Indy gear is a ####### good set of clothes of the highest quality and well i justify this hobby thinking that i needed a good shirt... i needed a hat, i needed a good pair of pants etc my illusions to survive psychologically to this effort

I'd say get the jacket without question. The pants are very nice so I'd get those too. I'd stay away from the shirt though. Just not close enough for me. Wested had the chance to make the perfect shirt and instead they made it for the wrong movie. It was supposed to be a Raiders shirt and instead they made one for Urban Cowboy. If I were you, I'd hold out for a Noel Howard shirt to pop up somewhere.
I'm sure you'll end up getting it anyways and once you do you can see how inaccurate it is for yourself. However, you may dig it completely like others here have.
In any case, good luck.

Me? No. I know I've seen the WPG shirt but I prefer the Noel Howard shirt to any other shirt. Dan's shirt was very, very nice indeed but there are only a few members here who have one. I was able to see one recently and wish I'd have gotten one.Oh well you're the first one to prefer the WPG to the Wested... very peculiar
Dan's ? I think i have seen a link recently... could you post it for me?agent5 wrote:Me? No. I know I've seen the WPG shirt but I prefer the Noel Howard shirt to any other shirt. A couple of people in this thread have said that they are contemplating getting either the Wested pants or the LL Bean dress chinos. The LL Beans are excellent pants, but about a year or so ago, they stopped making them in the taupe color.
So if you are looking for "IndyGear", the LL Bean's are unfortunately no longer an option. If you are just looking for a really nice pair of casual pants, then they will work great. But, if you are looking for a pair of Indy pants, they no longer have a color that is anywhere near the color of Indy's pants.

Just received the LL Bean catalogue and noticed a color that I dont remember as being available when I bought my pants a few years ago. It's called "heritage khaki". Anyone know something about them?Bufflehead Jones wrote: But, if you are looking for a pair of Indy pants, they no longer have a color that is anywhere near the color of Indy's pants.

I questioned the 'Heritage Khaki' when I received my catalog too. I was told it is not the taupe color we want. I believe Hemingway Jones is our resident LL Bean expert.

Plus, you get the Cavalry twill and a drape that in my opinion is hard to get with other fabrics. I think Wested did an even better job with the pants than with the shirt. The two things as mentioned might be the pocket flap shape and the belt holders sitting a little high, but that should be an easy job for a good tailor to fix if you'd want it modified.erri_wan wrote:What about wested pants colour? Do you think a modify is essential?Swindiana wrote:Plus, you get the Cavalry twill and a drape that in my opinion is hard to get with other fabrics. I've left mine as is. Not essential, but if you want them really screen accurate it can be done. It all depends on how much a stickler for small details you are.
In all seriousness I don't regret for a second getting these pants. They are very well made, and you'll be surprised how Indy they look to the drape once you put them on. Though I don't wear them much they are one of my favorite pieces of gear.

Swindiana

I'm ordering a pair of the Wested trousers pretty soon. For those who have them already, does the "unfinished" term mean that the trousers come unhemmed...? And, if you buy them "finished," they arrive hemmed at the bottom of the legs. Is this what they mean? (I know, I know, this is probably a dumb question to ask, lol) . Just double-checkin.'
Thank you for any input and kindest regards,
Captain D

erri, I know you already ordered your pants and shirt. You saw my pics from spain.

I wear my Wested pants and shirt on them. And you see they look perfect. And I´m sure they will look perfect on you, too. Both are the most screen accurate. You can be very excited of what you will get there from Wested.
BTW: If you have any questions how to hem the pants don´t hesitate to ask me. I´ve done it two times already.
