Got my AB Lamb Jacket, here are some observations..

Post by Doug C »

I bought this jacket from ebay, the seller told me he bought the wrong size and never wore it..I got the certificate too. When it arrived it was totally new, didn't look like it had ever been worn..although it does now after having it for 3 days  I didn't ask when it was made, but I assumed he had it for about a year 'cuase he said he bought it for halloween and didn't have time to send it back to Wested for adjustments so it may have been this year. Anyway, he said it's off the shelf size 42 in authentic brown lambskin - no special requests. But I did notice that it has NO leather facing behind the zippers (does this point to it being older?), The side straps are long and attach to the bottom of the hand warmer pocket (older version?), the side straps ARE attached with X-box stitching (off the shelf standard, ever?), Lots of leather around the inside pocket, No press studs on the storm flap, Brass YKK zipper on british stide (darn!), Authentic Lamb seems darker than some pics I've seen which I like (is there and OLD and NEW Authentic brown?) I've already gone over it with alcohol and it took off alot of the initial shine and just wearing it for the last 3 days has started the creases. I don't want to lighten it much at all, so destressing it will be done but only minimally. I'll try to get some pictures this evening.

When you look at it in bright sunlight does it suddenly take on a milky coffee colour? That would be a Authentic brown, if it doesn't and has a slight reddish tinge you might have got a Dark Brown.

Er, pics please! :)

Hold your horses Tone!:)

Very slightly reddish tone! It keeps the dark brown colour in bright light and looks a little warmer, like rich dark chocolate. This is from my viewings of it way back when.

I haven't got mine yet. I am having an inner struggle between the dark brown goat and a pre distressed cow, might get more winter wear out of a cow or horsehide! (Arrgh)

Rationing your COW lately mate?

Oh yes there is, right up 'til it's made and posted that is :) Any mods, which film version?

Sorry about the AB. But like Texas Raider said Fedora's busy after branching out into jackets. 8)

Another observation regarding the color of this "AB" lambskin jacked (Texas, I didn't have room to type Authentic Brown).. Anyway, Like I said I was told this was authenic brown but last evening I placed the two samples I got from Gemma on top of this jacket (1 dark brown, 1 authentic), here's what I noticed. The sample of authentic has a very grey look to it in comparison to my new jacket. The dark brown sample has a blacker tinge to it in comparison, while the color on the actual jacket has a very slight burgandy to it. This jacket is closer to the dark brown though, and I'm pretty convinced that's what it is but who knows. I really like the color even though it seems to be a little mistery as to what it is.

There for a moment I thought Fedora was starting to make the jackets too.

Yeeaah! Sounds like the ultimate piece of Indy-Gear: One item - One complete collection... Hey... Should it be brown og gray then? No wait, it will be "bray" off course...

The IOAB beaver jackets are worth every buck. Just beware of the DP 100% wool felt jacket with the inaccurate action pleats and Indy pin stuck to the collar. 8)
