Jacket length

Post by GrailHunter »

I have had two Westeds over the years, but one thing that has never been right until recently is the length. My well loved/bashed wested of old hangs about four inches past the lower edge of my belt. This has always niggled me as the Raiders look is very short, so I ordered another two which were two inches shorter than this - perfect, and it even feels better on too.

What I would like though, if anyone is up to the challenge, are various screen caps capturing the length of Indy's jackets throughout the trilogy. I will post pics of my jackets as soon as poss. I have become so obsessed over this issue over the last six months, it's driving me batty. Just don't get me started on brims :?

Thanks in advance.

What drives me batty is the pleat opening at the bottom of the jacket I think there is too much material behind to expose it as it does in the films.

I've seen other jackets open great but not mine.

My next Wested I'm going to Wested and talk to Peter how I want it.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

Great, now I have something else to worry about ...and just as I thought I'd got it perfect.

First of all, bear in mind that the Raiders and LC jackets were the same length. However, the ToD jacket was 1" longer. These are about the best pics I could find. :)

Great pics JW, I hadn't realised how much looser the LC was than both the earlier jackets were! The sleeves in the first two are much closer fitting too.

Can anyone tell if the TOD s a Wested or a Frenchie in this pic ? I'm guessing Wested.

One does wonder if, among other issues, the reason the respective jackets fit HF differently ("looser fit" on LC) is because HF's body was changing! Speculating unscienitifically about the demographics of our august COW subscribership :D , I would guess that there are not too many of us out there who have grappled with middle age realities. What "worked for me" in 1980 sure aint what worked for me in 1990  , etc.

He certainly is looking "healthier" in the LC shot :). They did make the jacket looser too.

I hit 30 and food suddenly had quadruple the calories.

Cheers for that J-Weaver, my mind can take a rest now - I finally nailed the perfect length for the Raiders jacket.

I'm glad you can finally get some rest.

Also, one reason that the LC jacket is slightly different than the others is that when LC came around they couldn't find the patterns. They basically made the jacket from memory. At least thats my understanding.

This is a concern of mine as well. Yeah ten years ago I wore a 38 short  now a 44 short. After hitting 30 my waist and belly really packed on the pounds far quicker... the one thing Harrison had was a personal trainer  In TOD he really worked out so he was in good shape. By LC he probably had a routine to keep himself in shape. But the LC jacket was made from memory as stated above. Makes you wonder what happened to all the Raiders jackets :-k

Cheers,
Jeff

Heey, Indy has his gloves in the cargo pockets. Another nifty detail for Raven Bar fans.

Yeah, as I've gotten older, I've developed food allergies -- I eat, and I break out in fat all over my body!
