You've got a good start there  . But like tone said, tighter with the pinch, and the bash a little more defined to get the camel humps. Don't be afraid to give the front a good pinch. A good method to follow would be Praire Jones' method of the pinch. He has it in one of his threads. So, congratulations and keep up the good work. You'll have it just the way you want it in no time flat.

Cheers!

Hey Tone,

I'm estimating that the crown on my Akubra was about 5 3/4

inches. I did'nt think to measure it first, but close to 6 inches.

You mean you think it is too tall?

I wish I had your problem, with my size 60 head basically all crowns look too short...

I think that it still needs a bit of tweaking here and there, especially the front.

Let me just toss this on the table for your consideration. I keep reading post and post of folks tweeking their hats this way, then that way, to achieve the perfect duplication of the hat in the movie. If you set the hat to the shape you like....just wear it! Each and everyone of us handle and wear our hats differently. If you just use the hat, you'll discover it will take on YOUR personality, as each and every nuance of what YOU do (consciously AND unconsciously) when handling the hat will cause it to take on YOUR personality! Have you ever noticed certain folks wear their hats, and they just look like they BELONG on the person's head? Then you see some folks who just don't look right, even though the hat is perfectly shaped? Could it be that the individual who's hat looks right has just allowed it to create itself?

Let's face it...Ford constantly messed around with his hat as the movies were made (you can see him doing it in the out take shots). THAT'S why appears so many different ways in the films.

IR, your initial bash looks great. Now wear it, and let it take on YOUR personality. You'll be happy you did.

Just my ramblings on the subject, and one I personally practice.

High regards! Michaelson

Couldn't have said it better myself, Michealson. That's one reason why I love hats which conform easily to the touch. They do indeed take on the character of the wearer. Just the other day my wife said how I look good in all of my hats, but when she tries them on, she says they make her look like a "cowboy." Maybe I should get her her own fedora for her to style "her" way!

Looks very nice Railok, after something like 10 rebashes it will be perfect!
No, seriously, you're on the good way for the raven bar look. i would personally tighten the top part of the pinch... if this is the name of that part.
PM me for more clarifications

Well said Michaelson!

I have the same thoughts while reading posts. I bashed my Akubra one time! That was because it arrived open crowned out of the box. I have no idea what "scene" my hat is from. For all I know it could be from Indy IV!

I am not against trying to get that 'look'. Unless you are Harrison Ford, a fedora is not going to make you look exactly like Indiana Jones!

These hats are made for wearing. Bash it once and wear it in good health.

Indy_Railok's hat looks great. What is really needs now is to worn...a lot.

Unless he's after his own look, in which case, the pinch looks fine. I think the bash above makes your hat look really nice, even if it isn't 100% "Indy." I'd love to see a pic of you wearing it like that. It looks very nice!

Looks a very great block. I think you might try the LC look, it's not far from that.

Looks half way within LC and the young indiana jones chronicles. I think it's a personal style that suit you very well :D

Oh, great, mine will look like a hat an IDIOT would wear. Oh, I guess it does now. Shoot...

Railok, that hat looks great. You are too close to actually do better and have it stay - just wear it! That will change the shape, and then you can tweak it so it looks the way you want WITH it working on your head. If you get it perfect now, it's just going to change when you start wearing it.

i.e. if it looks perfect without a head in it, how can it possibly look the same WITH a head in it? ;)[/quote]

So it's worthless, ten dollars from a vendor in the street. Now you just have to bury it in the sand for a thousand years and it'll become priceless.
