THE ALDEN INDY BOOT ON STERIOIDS!!! REALLY!

Post by Mola Ram »

!!!!!   !!!!!
to be honest I did fall out of my chair when i saw this!!!!
The most all-weather shoe we offer is this durable and rugged high lace boot, featuring the same heavy duty rubber lug sole used for police boots. Also featuring heavily oiled, low maintenance leather uppers. Definitely not a dress shoe! This is the boot that Indiana Jones wishes he had !

That is a nice updated indy boot!

Indeed :?

I'd consider spending the cash on the real 405s, but not these things.

I dont see the problem - they are a great modern boot/design with the Alden look.

Those are nice, but not entirely accurate. I think that's why most people arr willing to pay $300.00 or more for Aldens, the accuracy. That's really all they have going for them. These don't fit that bill and, like said above, they just look like J. Crews.

Shawnkara, those are Aldens, you knew that, right? And they are $345.00, just like the 405 boot.

have a nice day.

Unless there has been a big price increase, the 405 is not $345.

Yea,

Made by alden. Its the origonal pattern of the indy boot only
with higher strength.

Thats exactly what I thought! Even the tread on the bottom looks almost identical. Except the Rugged has one extra "star" tread on the front and back of the boot. Making eight in front and two in back.

Here are the JCrew Ruggeds(on the right) for comparison. The Ruggeds are more brownish in color than the photo shows...

I'd consider having alden resole my first 405's that way and then get some newer traditional 405's. No douby that its a great boot though.

Meh...Don't really like the color and the price is horible. Get the originals and get them resoled or better yet get some good close enoughs and save the money for a AB, Wested, or a GOOD whip.

Ineresting find none the less.

What I think would have been even better is if Alden made the old 405 in the same brown leather used in the "Alden rugged offering" and alot of gearheads, would rejoice as opposed to having to pay more for a custom built Alden 405 in the same leather.

Food for thought,

All the best,

I think they're cool. I imagine they're quite heavy with the police boot lug sole, though.

Actually, the current 405's come in a pretty accurate color IMO. Also, I think the heavy lug sole ruins the "vintage" look of the boots.

Agreed. Why aren't these the same color as the regular ones?

Some rubber tread good, big hiking lugs bad. (for an Indy look at least) See the Redwing 100 Year classic post to see a good mix of the two.

They are a different color because they are a completely different leather. Look closely, they are made of a heavier grade hide. The 405's are made out of a higher quality (not as tough) softer leather.

I stand corrected on the price bufflehead  but once you break the $250.00 barrier on a pair of boots, who's counting anymore-you already have sticker-shock!

have a nice day.

I read somewhere that the new alden leather colour is much better than few years ago. Recent pics confirmed that.
I remember there was a post about them not too long time ago. I don't think they changed the colour after few months again!

Well there's no substitue if you want to be screen accurate (or close as possible) and if you don't mind a few differnces or want close enough I don't see why you would want pay more than having the originals to do so.
