Side Straps

Post by Harrison_Davies »

Hi gang,

Can anyone tell me where I can find a side strap tutorial, I'm sure I saw one, but can't seem to locate it.

Want to make sure that I got it right.

Thanks.

I'm not sure one was ever written. The function of the side straps are only to keep the action pleat from gapping wide open when you're standing with your arms to the side. Just snug them enough to keep the pleats closed in that position, and you're good to go.

Simple as that. :D

If you're having issues from the flailing side straps, just fold the end over itself back through the d-ring/rectangle.

Thanks I worked it out, still it came out.

Which is screen accurate sliders or D Rings? This is for my goat order.

Anyone have an ultimate Screen accurate list?

Can't comment on screen accuracy, but IMO sliders are the better way to go. I have D-rings & find they slip a bit, so I wish I'd had the sliders instead. Then again I'll take functional over accurate any day 8)

If I recall correctly, the black rectangular slider buckles are "Raiders" accurate & the D-rings are "Last Crusade" accurate. Hope this helps!

Have you tried the folding method?

Also, turning the rings 180 degress thus making the flat end of the D "facing out" might help a bit. Worth a try anyway, unless you've already been there. ;)

Both were used in Raiders, so either one would have been correct. Usually it's the type leather that dictates which one I'm wanting at any give time....the thinner the material, the rectangular slider holds better. Heavier leather works fine with the D-ring....but either one is correct, and screen accurate.

Can anyone point out to me where D-Rings were used in Raiders? What scenes specifically?

I know _ had/has a list where he went frame by frame and found each and everytime they appeared when the Expedition project was ongoing, as HE wanted to make sure himself.

Hopefully he'll see this and post his list (if he still has it).

I'd like to make sure, myself. If by any chance you come across this list, please post it. I've never noticed any D-Rings in Raiders. In fact, you can almost never see the side straps at all, much less the buckles.
