Finally will be able to get the Jacket!!!

Post by nevrwhere »

Great news for me! I know you guys don't really know me at all, but I have been poking around this website for quite a while. I never wanted to post because I have wanted that jacket for so long and it has been out of reach, so I have been gearless. Well, my work found an error in my paychecks going back to January and they owe me about $500.00 back pay! The jacket will be ordered within two weeks! I think I want to go with the Raiders goat or maybe the TOD. Any recommendations from all of you more experienced folk? I am so excited I am almost jumping out of my skin!

Hey, that's great news about the backpay, good one!

The authentic brown goatskin Temple of Doom is a MIGHTY fine jacket. Just my opinion, of course. :)

Raiders is the preference here on the board and it looks good - it is an Indy jacket. The TOD is a longer cut and looks more like a current length/ jacket style.

I would go with goat for durability and its got a good look too

Thanks guys! I definately am going with the goat, but I am undecided about whether or not to do the Raiders or Temple jacket.

i got a goatskin authentic ToD

goatskin for durability/look, authentic cos it's authentic (though now i think i would have preferred dark brown..but it's still great) and ToD for comfort, and that i prefer the look from tod. ToD isnt that much longer though is it? maybe an inch or something.

would you be more comfortable in a raiders or a ToD? would you like the look of raiders more or ToD?

Well, I just ordered a Raiders, to me, Indiana Jones in any movie is awesome, however, when I picture Jones, I think of Raiders... Also I have a very cool motorcycle jacket that goes well with my current indygear (a la the orgininal serial art featured on the bonus matrial DVD) and that is a pretty short garment. I also have a little bit longer dark brown leather jacket that was much more 'mechanically' Indy looking to me, but when I put on the motorcycle jacket, the length really made it more indy to me despite that its black and the wrong jacket style... but that's just a subjective thing you may not like a jacket you have because its too short, in my case, I'd experienced too long so I figured shorter the better...

That should leave you enough to get a whip, too! Enjoy the jacket when you get it!

Welcome, Nev'!
I would go with goat. Lamb is more accurate, but the current supply of goat at Wested is beautiful! I just got my Raiders goat about two weeks ago and it's by far my favorite Wested so far. I've owned five of them now, the previous four being lamb. You can hardly tell the difference between lamb and the new goat, it's THAT good. It's much lighter and softer than any goat I've ever handled, and the grain is tighter, too.

Also, When I was tearing my mind-brain to bits trying to decide which leather, I read on a post that goat was a more durable leather than lamb... I'm not sure how much more durable, but any margine counts when you're forking over the cash for a custom leather jacket from another country...

See? That's why I love this place, you guys are always so ready to help. I think thta goat is the way to go and I am leaning more towards the Raiders. I still have about two weeks to decide so, I have plenty of time. But keep the opinions rolling in, all advice is welcome.

Yup, I got the goatskin dark leather Raider's with antique D rings...

I really dont know I've never owned a Wested (at least I guess I do now but for all I know its still in queue to be made...) but if you had to get my opinion I'd say from the pictures that 'dark brown' looks more screen acurate to me than authintic brown.... my friend let me borrow a brown leather jacket for indy outfit once, and I went with my black leather motorcycle jacket, because the light brown seemed less indy than the black (at least 'in context' with the rest of my outfit; at the time I was using the darker LL Bean shirt and darker pants)
