Oh So Many Bashes!

Post by Indiana Jimbo »

Hey all,

I have decided to finally order an Adventurebilt, not having the best visit over at Herbert Johnson (see Disappointing HJ Visit). I am having difficulty in finding a bash that suits me. I think it would be a good idea if we had a thread that showed shots of the various bashes from all of the movies so that those of us who are planning to buy the hat with a particular bash can have a quick and easy way to compare the different bashes without having to scan various threads or watch the movies. Thanks.

By the way if there is a thread that I missed that is a repeat of this, please give a link to it.

Have a look at the pics in the fedora section of the main Indy Gear site, those are pretty good screen caps :)

Here's a great one.http://www.regular-guy.com/fedora.html
Try bashing it yourself. It's 3/4 of the fun.

That link PJ has posted of MK's page is very good, but is only Raiders bashes.

That's said, right hand side 4th down is THE bash for me

hey Jimbo, I reccomend, instead of going through a dozen or so galleries, if you want an indy hat watch the movies and pick something and then get some screencaps and talk to Steve. If you want a fedora similar or somewhat different head over to www.thefedoralounge.com for some insperation. Or perhaps have a look around and have a "hybrid"

Also, have a look at the stick faq and scroll down. there is a lot of good information and analysis of the various hats.

Renderking came out with some good advice too...

...get Steve to do a generalised bash & then let the fedora take on it's own shape as you wear it lots :)

I like the middle, third down, right next to the one you like. :D

Spooky, I think it is really cool that we are both getting the same hat at the same time, but mine will be gray.

Jimbo,

Read the FAQ for a deeper dive into the Indiana Jones fedora. I wrote an article with several pics illustrating basic points-by-points regarding the hat, the turn, the bash the crown and the brim.

Great way to come up to speed.

Cheers,
pyr.

Hemingway,
Sorry, I should have been more specific - I meant that I plan to get another AB 'down the road' (and when I do - the LC Venice Pier Style).
Yeah - that would have been cool though ...
Anyway, looking forward to seeing your gray LC. :D

Yep, & as PJ says, the Streets of Cario hat just seems to perfectly capture the iconic style of the Indy hat :D

My swedish friend, i suggest you to ask to Fedora a cairo bash for your new AB, although Adventurebilts are mostly all alike when they arrive and then you have to bash them, if you ask a cairo bash you'll have a more tight pinch that, in my humbly opinion, prevent a lot the tapering. And from that kind of bash i think also you can modify the hat how much you like to get any other bashes you prefer (From idol grab to raven bar scene).

I developed this thougt recently after a few bashwork on my raven bar AB. Tell me if you noticed the same thing on your ABs

I said i would take the cairo bash. Reasons... if understandable... are written in some previous post in this thread

i believe you'll get the raven bar look also from the cairo bash because they are mostly identical when they arrive in the box.

About shaping it, i know it will be scaring at the beginning. Then after time you'll spend at least 3 times a week modifying it a bit. Personally i'm never happy about it... that hat is driving me crazy  but i love it

I don't want to curse in english. The Swedish are more powerful to me .

I'm just kidding.

Cairo Bash it is then. Then you have convinced me to the max.

  well i believe you'll like it a lot but CHOOSE WISELY

no i'm kidding, i think the cairo bash is THE raiders hat and don't worry because if you don't like it you can alway reshape it a bit.

Hemingway Jones will support me saying that Cairo bash is THE raiders hat ! anyway this is only my humble opinion (i bought a raven bar and it's very nice but if i would have to buy another AB i would aim for a cairo bash for sure)

PS i suggest you not to bring it at school... girls stay out of these things

PPS i'm not a master of reshaping at all! But some modification sometimes MAKES the hats more screen accurate than others

Bag at school? Don't know, i use to bring mine at university and people look at it very interested... someone also drop me some compliments.

At high school... don't know. It depends on local "costumes"
