Hi,
I've wanted to buy a fedora for a while now. But this has always bugged me for some reason. I'm almost seventeen right now and I'm worried that if I order a fedora now, it might be too small for me in a few years. Is this a realistic problem?
What should I do?

I'm 16 and just a few months ago I bought an AB. In general, I don't think your head grows that much anymore once you're in your late teens. I mean seriously, what's there to have growing? You've got the brain, which is on average is the size of a softball, maybe a little bigger. Then you've got the skull, then skin (there's virtually no muscle on the cranium) and then hair. Once you're in your teens I think your head has pretty much stopped growing. If you're REALLY worried I suppose you could order a size larger, but I wouldn't worry too much. :junior: -IJ

That's funny that this topic popped up since I just purchasing a hat in Gettysburg for an upcoming reenactment this weekend...
I'm 25 years old and I bought a hat that fits OK, but it is a very snug fit. As I drove home, I began thinking if I will grow out of this hat in a few short years. If so, I'm going to have to fork out more bucks to buy the same hat all over again. My dad had the same build as me when he was my age (tall & skinny, lol), but once he got into his 30's, he naturally got larger...including his hat size.
This may sound like a strange question, but say for example, a guy like me who has ordered my correct hat size. But, in the years to come, my hat size increases slightly to the point that my fedora fits...but very tightly and snuggly. Is there a way to remove, perhaps, the sweatband without damaging the felt of the hat in order to provide for more room? Perhaps by doing this, this would eleminate the problem of buying a whole new fedora/hat...?
I'm very new at this whole fedora/hat hobby, so please excuse my strange hypothetical inquiries .
Kind Regards,
Captain D
