Intriguing - but I agree very tricky.Pagey wrote:It's an interesting thought.. but it would be hard to judge. Who would judge? And based on which criteria?? Best Raides hat, best Crusade hat? Hat that looks most like a particular scene?
Very tricky.
We'd need at least three judges ...
Now let me see, a Gobler idol to Judge #1, a Wested to Judge #2, and hmm, ... and a new pair of Aldens to Judge #3 ...
Yeah, I think I can swing the panel - OK. Let's go!
(Seriously - very tough, different movie/scene looks, different makers, plus, the same hat looks different on different people, and lighting changes everything ...)
I perfectly agree with you.Pagey wrote:I don't think the brand of hat would have to be an issue. The contest should simply be who has the most indy looking hat. Trouble is how to define Indy looking. Afterall the hat is different for each of the films. That's why I wondered if it would be possible to vote for best Raiders, best TOD and best Crusade. Whether the hats in question are ABs, HJs, Optimos, Akubras, or whatever else shouldn't matter. The real Henry wrote:You also have thnik about the different hats ( Akubra, AB, ...)!
We could even have 3 fedora contests (Raiders - ToD - LC). The only problem is how to judge... we have to think more about it.
What about the idea of a prop contest pagey?

Akubra
Well, maybe cuz i'm a size 55, but I found that getting the Raiders shape is ez. The thing most people forget is that to get those DEEP DEEP center dents, you have to wear it higher on you head. Mine has tapered oly slightly after almost a year and a half of daily wear through every type of weather (except maybe a tornado or tsunami, close on the tsunami). But its a front view taper, and it suits my face. There is yet to be any profile-view taper.

Here are two pictures of my HJ, that I reshaped into a ToD Bridge style fedora.

Is it tapered or just ToD style?Indiana Wayne wrote:Here are two pictures of my HJ, that I reshaped into a ToD Bridge style fedora.

Here is my AB. I think it has a bit of a Raven Bar look to it.

Why don't we try a scene contest? Best Raven Bar hat, best streets of Cairo hat, best Idol-grab-scene hat? Something to that effect.
Possible categories:
1. Best (scene) & runners up.
2. Best (movie) & runners up.
Then take it to the next level:
1. Best (scene) costume.
2. Best (movie) costume.
Just ideas.
