Getting that Raiders bulge
Simply fold the crown at the top of the ribbon, all the way around. When you unfold it, voila, le bulge. You must already have a good block with no taper.

You guys talking about the bulge on the Cairo hat? Mushroomed? That is from the hat being pushed down from the top, and the nature of the felt lets that distortion stay in. Dakota's way would work, and Pagey's sitting remark would work too. The felt has to be pretty pliable and not the springy type you see on many modern hats. Fedora

That's a good idea, I never thought of that. Here's my "string" method, which got the mushroom effect (er, bulge) nicely:

So you just push down on the crown and stop at the ribbon? is that correct?

Fold the part of the crown the ribbon covers up, like a sailors cap. I pushed the top of the crown down to meet the fold, but I didn't have to. By the way, pushing the top down left the crown with a faint line around it when I pushed it out, as though it had once been a pork pie crown. Hmmmmm..........
