I came home to that same excitement of a large white square box by the door. Inside was a fedora that as much as you expect must truly be seen, touched, and put on to fully appreciate. Absolutely outstanding! Fedora is not exaggerating, this is incredibly fine felt. Just holding and admiring this hat is an experience to savor. I had requested the Raven Bar, turned of course, and I could not be happier with the result! I immediately phoned Fedora for thanks, and to start discussing my next AB. You guys were right, this hat thing can really get ahold of you once you step in and put the right one on. Unfortunately, I cannot post pics until later in the month as I am away, but I will do so promptly upon return. Once again, for our master-hatter Fedora, a home run and true Indy-Hat. IF
Referencing my original post above from back in May (yikes! sorry for the delay!), I finally have gotten my computer to where I can try posting some pics. I'll attempt a direct image, then some links to photobucket so that you will not have to let them download if you don't desire. I reduced all of the image sizes. The hat is essentially as delivered aside from me just wearing it in for now. I may drop the front pinch a little for a bit more hump, but not for a while. This is my first run at a high quality hat that can actually be customized, so let me know what ya think.
Well IndianaFlyer, that is one smart looking lid you have there. Fedora has outdone himself. Congratulations, may you have many adventures in your new hat.
And before I forget, welcome to COW.
Congratulations on a great looking hat. I think you should just wear it for awhile as is. I don't think that it really needs any changes. If after you wear it some, if you decide that you want to tweak it a bit, then go ahead. Mine is still the way it came out of the box from Fedora. I figure, if it ain't broke, why fix it.
Flyer,
I think it looks great on you. It is an excellent hat and it looks great. The back shot is especially nice. I wouldn't change a thing. 'Good on you.
Terrific looking new AB !
Thanks for sharing pics - your hat already looks great from every angle; and from what I read here at COW, the ABs look better the more they are used ('broken in').
Seriously though, you sure have a fine looking lid there. How about some pics of it in direct sunlight, to see whether or not the felt's color lightens up under such conditions?
Also, I think you ought to put some of these moves on it.
The detail I'm interested in is the way the pinch is rounded rather than a vertical sharp crease. Cool !
This is from a novice Akubra basher. I will break a pencil down to the length of the pinch, put it inside the hat. Then pinch around the pencil from the outside with clothes pins. Be sure to put a folded washcloth or something between the hat and clothes pins so the clothes pins won't leave marks. That is how I achieve that effect as an amateur. Don't know how Fedora does it. I don't know how Fedora does a lot of the things he does with those hats. I guess that's why he makes them.
Thanks to you all, I appreciate your comments! I will test taking some pics in direct sunlight next week when I finish current travels and post them on the 'AB pics here' thread that Strider linked to from his post here on mine.
BTW, how does one link to a separate thread like that, with url under a single word? I'd like to reference my original thread here when I post pics there, unless it would be better to re-post my shots on that larger AB pics thread and let this one drift down. Still learnin' forum protocol.

IndyFlyer, great lid! I am jealous.
For linking to old threads, the easiest thing to do is to copy the URL for the old thread. In your new posting, use the URL tag and in the first tag add an equals sign, then paste the url in between after url and before the right bracket. Then type the word to be used as a link, then the closing URL tag. Here's an example in which I've substituted parantheses for the square brackets:
Thank you all, very much! My hat feels and wears even better now that all of your comments and compliments are a part of it. Now, time for some 'adventure pics'.... IndyFlyer
I ordered my normal size of 7 3/8 inches. I had a measurement in cm that I was not entirelyconfident with also, but being a yank and used to american sizes in inches I went with that and it came out a perfect fit. Fedora will size your hat either way. On a similar comment, my Federation Deluxe arrived on the large side for what I measured my size to be. I'd probably drop a cm or two if I had it to do over. I've had to add sizing foam under the sweat band while I wait for it to draw into my head size. Then again, I could have gooned up the measurement in the first place, but I've read since that they tend to run large.
