Wested prevents theft

Post by Strider »

I decided to check out the last day of the Comic Con today for a few hours before I went into work, and as I was making my way into the exhibit hall, a group of three people ran towards me, two of them running INTO me. I distinctively felt a hand reach into my back pants pocket and wriggle its way out again when the owner of said hand found that the pocket was empty.

Little did he know that I keep my wallet buttoned up in the right front cargo pocket of my Wested when I am wearing it, and I just happened to be wearing my Indy Gear that day, so there my wallet sat, safely in the cargo pocket.

The Con security stopped the group once I said that one of them had tried to pick my pocket, but since I didn't see the guy's face when he did it, I couldn't identify any of them as the would-be theif, and as such, they had to let them go.

Thank goodness for cargo pockets. *$%@^D!@ scam artists! :whip:

Spooky had his, but he and I weren't together today, so I couldn't have him bust a quick one on them. I bet he would've too!

Molorom, you joined Indy Gear in 2002 on my birthday.

Just curious,
If it was taken, how much would you have lost?

Oh man that's awful they'd try to take advantage of you like that. I'm glad they didn't get your wallet or try to pull an Elsa on you by reaching into yoiur front pockets.. Yeah, Spooky would have spooked them with his whip...they'd be then saying, "Whips, why did it have to be whips."

$375.00.

Yeah. Wherever there are large groups of people, there are always those who are out there trying to take advantage of someone. I was disappointed that they were not able to be apprehended, as they will probably try the same thing on someone else who will not be so fortunate.

Ya would think they wouldn't want to mess with you with Indygear on (I'm sure being kicked by Aldens would hurt!). They really had some gaul!

Well, now we all know where Strider keeps his wallet when he's wearing his Wested  . Just kidding. Glad to hear that your wallet was safe and sound. Whenever I travel, I keep my wallet (when I have money in it  ) on the inside pocket of my Wested (or any other jacket I might wear), then I zip up the jacket 3/4, a la "Raven Bar/Nepal scene". I find that always helps. Plus, it gives me that much more extra time when I pull out my wallet to actually think "Do I really need this? :-k "

Oh, don't you worry, when Bink's around, I'll have it in a different spot, and that time, I'll have my whip with me.

Strider / ITG:
Can't believe I missed these posts ... I found them by accident (doing 'due diligence' on previous Wested Jacket Option threads).
I'm glad your wallet wasn't stolen, Strider.

Re: My whip (Fortune and Glory) ... no 'official' comment;
However, I will say that my best friend once made a whip (out of cords) to deal with some unsavory characters.
His wasn't kangaroo but it got the job done ...
