:D Congratulations Indiana Will! That is one beautiful hat. I, like everyone else, want an AB. In due time I guess, my Akubra will have to do for awhile.

Great hat Will! I like that color. I thought it was going to be lighter. That is a good shade for summer. It would look good with a khaki poplin suit.

I do like the color! Can you get some outdoor shots? Is it 100% beaver or is it the rabbit?

:D The brim is 2 3/4", 5" Crown, with the Cairo Bash.
Fedora "Steve", can make, and cut, what dimenisonals, you want.
That is the great thing, about Fedora.
 My personal opinion, I think this Pecan Fedor is about the best dress Fedora that I have. It is of the Vintage Fedora"s that was made years before. Like I said! Fedora "Steve". You did it again!! It's Great!

Have a Great Day!!

I don't know. I bet 9 out of 10 people who weren't involved in this debate would say that was grey.

Nice, I'm wondering do you find it dark enough for an Indy? REason I ask is that most of the regular AB's I've seen in person have been too dark, with the exception of bink's AB So I'm somewhat wondering if this would be a better option for me or if it's too light for an Indy. Either way, beautiful color!

The pecan color that I have is not an Indy color. It is not a true pecan, if you use Optimos pecan as the yardstick. But, it is the pecan color by my supplier. It is hard to describe the color, except to say, it is a very nice vintage color as you used to see all sorts of colors in dress felts back in the day.

The AB brown color is actually called Chocolate by the feltmaker, and the lightness/darkness can vary from run to run, or batch to batch. But, with that said, it is still darker than the Keppler, and some HJs, but not all HJs. I have seen 4 or 5 different shades of HJs over the last 5 years, all in for reblocks. Personally, I think the original brown hat in Raiders was darker than the Keppler. The reason that I say this, is that certain colors have always been stock colors with any hatter. One is chocolate brown. It would make more sense for an open stock hat, to be a common color.

If anyone ever wants a lighter brown, I can get that too. When I first put this thing together, I opted for the darker brown, mostly because of personal feelings of the original color, but also because these beaver hats will outlast the other lessor felts. I had to look ahead, a few years down the road, when the color would invariably fade, and wash out. I figure these beaver hats will look good colorwise for many years. So, there is a method to my madness. Regards, Fedora

Hey, Holly, glad my AB could be a benchmark of comparison for you!  I love the color of my Raiders AB. I also have a "vintage" AB I had Steve block for me from a vintage hat body I got my hands on. It's much more a warm pecan and a nice companion to my first AB. It also is a great vintage color because it IS a vintage color!

Having seen the hat out in direct sunlight, I really think it's too light for an Indy hat. It does look very good, though! I think you need to put some of these moves on it, though.
