Having just got a new job, I promised myself (and my accountant-- er, wife has graciously assented) I would order my looooooong desired Wested upon my first paycheck. Given that this was my second day, it will be a couple of weeks. But still...

On the 4th picture it looks like goat, but after seing the last pic, I'm not that sure.
As I said, the jacket looks really great.
And the goat is a very nice and durable leather. You will be happy with it.

Congratulations on your great deal Aviator! You will truly enjoy your jacket. I live in South Geogia so all I am doing with mine so far is sitting on it, rolling it up and using other methods to get it broken in. I am moving to Virginia in the fall and look forward to more jacket friendly weather.
I guess it depends if you just want it "broken in" or distressed. I have decided to speed up the break in period but let it distress naturally. Most of what I've heard here on breaking in involves things like:
1.) rolling it up over and over
2.) sitting on it while its rumpled
3.) actually sleeping in it
4.) putting it in a pillow case and then running it in a clothes dryer on a "no heat" setting
5.) wearing it in the rain
These are the things I am utilizing. Anyone else please post thoughts!

Well I swear that's a new one for me, sleeping in it? London is particularly hot at the moment so perhaps this is why it seems so unusual. Do you zip the jacket up or just wear it open? Aren't you worried about waking up with a big old imprint of the zipper across your face? I have to admit it's quite clever though, you get twice as much wear out of it than if you just wore it during the day
I haven't done it yet either, but I have heard it works. In South Georgia it doesn't get cold enough in any month to do it. I may try it outside in my sleeping bag this fall though.
