UK source for web belts?

Post by Kt Templar »

Hi folks,

Anyone have a good source for 'US miltary spec' web belts with the brass buckle in the UK?

I've only been able to find British ones that come with a horrible silver coloured alloy/aluminium buckle and end bit.

Regards,

KT

These guys have a sand one it seems, £2.50 -
http://www.cobbatoncombat.co.uk/sales/clothing.htm

And these too, £4.50 -

I'd also try searching for some using "Sites from the UK" with http://www.google.co.uk

The brown one seems to be the tricker one to get, as always. ;)

Is that where you found yours?

I did pop in there for the first time ever last week. They seemed only to have 2" belts with silver buckles and red webbing! I'll look closer for a more appropriate one. Darn I think I've caught the 'screen accurate' bug.

Funnily enough I always thught H&M was a womens shop, on visiting it seems to cater to a lot of trendy/camp young things buying very expensive denim.

KT

Not that young or trendy. :)

I'll try the top one thanks! The second one doesn't seem to seem to be bothered with accuracy, it shows brass buckles but sends out aluminium. That's where I got my "wrong" one from. That being said it is a very good quality thick cotton webbing, shame about the buckle.

So no other Brits got a good source?

I may have to import in bulk. Anyone in the UK or europe interested in a solid brass buckle?

Around a year or so ago, I imported a bulk load of brown web belts to the UK with the assistance of a US member. It was the only way to get the brown belts - I looked until the cows came home (no pun intended) but there was nothing available in the UK at all.

I offered the belts to other European members at cost, they all were claimed right away. You could consider doing something similar if you don't come up with another source.

Yes. I managed to get a dark brown belt (Raiders & ToD) and a tan belt (Last Crusade).

Remember, if you're going for "screen accurate", you should get a brass plated buckle, not the solid brass one. They distress easily and soon the plating will be worn off the middle of the buckle, leaving a slightly silvery appearance - very Indy...

Here's another cheerful little thread on buckles, right before it was hijacked to kingdom come for some doctors' bags and stuff...

I just ordered mine from one of the fine vendors here, he's in the US but I ordered some other things from him so it didn't phase me.

Well Canyon, I found out why I thought H&M was a womens shop, my local H&M is only a womens shop! They are having a sale at the moment so couldn't find any belts there. No Luck at Primark either. So went into Claire's (another womens shop! Starting to get odd looks!), these ones are ok, maybe a bit flimsy but will do for now! But just fit me with a 32" waist so people who need bigger need to look elseware.

Did a bit of scouring and acetoneing (Is there anything acetone can't do?).

I don't know why, but in the area of this buckle I go with the time period accurate solid brass instead of screen accurate. It's easy to come by (for me at least) so why not?
