There.....and you all said I never really existed too! That's me on Fathers Day on the train, coal dust covered face, and Camptown in place. Hot day, but the hat performed perfectly! Photo taken by date_eating_monkey (daughter number 2) on her cameraphone thing. D.Jones (daughter #1) was sitting across from me. Good time had by all....and, yes, I HAD just drunk a cup of coffee before this photo was taken.
You have my permission to print this photo off to hang in your garden to scare off pests. If THAT doesn't scare 'em, NOTHING will. Regards! Michaelson
P.S. CLM, drop JJ a PM. He can tell you everything you want to know about his Camptown offerings. Thank you for the kind remarks on the 'stache'. You got the year right too! (grins)

PM me and I can hook you up, since I make them ! My limited time $135.00 offer still holds true for you with shipping included in the USA, but for Canada, I'll still try to work out a good deal/discount.crazylegsmurphy wrote:DUDE!! THAT is what Michaelson looks like???
That has to be the sweetest "Stash" in this side of 1886!!!
I love it!
Those camptowns are pretty cool too. The one thing I can't figure out is how to get one...it seems they are ebayable, or something, but I never can find the price, or anything.
Sound fair ?
GLad you like it and PLEASE tell your friends !

But sir!
I am sure I have missed something along the way. Please fill me in on these hats you speak of.
What are they made of, do they come bashed or unbashed, do you offer other colors, what makes yours better than the other hats currently out there, what are your guarantees, how are they shipped, do you have pics to demonstrate the quality you are offering?
I have seen posts around, and I even think I checked out your ebay post. I like the look of the hats, but I'm having trouble tracking down all this information because there seems to be a bunch of posts, all saying the same thing, but not really saying anything.
I think you should make a webpage, or use one post to detail your hats in full. (if you need server space, or a website done, maybe we can work out a deal....just pm me)

AMEN!!. If you'll notice in JJ's signature, there is a website in the plans, as the link exists, but he hasn't had the time to actually create the site.crazylegsmurphy wrote:I think you should make a webpage, or use one post to detail your hats in full. Grey will be available as soon as I get 10 commitments for Grey lids. I need to justify my minimum order of bodies.
Thanks Gerry. Talk to you soon !

One would think blue plaid is the only type shirt I own, wouldn't one? Seems to be the one I'm usually wearing when a camera comes out! Well durn. (grins)
Oh, as to the 'one cup of coffee'...it was a BIG cup of coffee!!
OH yes, that was definitely a HAPPY FACE when that was taken, especially considering where I was and what I was doing at the time!!
The glasses are 1937 originals, as are all my wirerims that I 'rescue' from antique stores for next to nothing. You would NOT believe how many new/old stock 12k gold filled wire frames there are floating around out in antique stores. I bought these for $12 dollars, have a REALLY ornate pair that I have as backups that I got for $6, and found yet another brand new pair last month for $10. I just have my current prescription installed, and am good to go. Why buy reproductions that are half the quality when you can buy 'brand new' originals for next to nothing?
Like I said, the hat performed yoeman service for me, as it was 90+ in the shade that day, coal smoke rolling through the windows, and the Camptown kept my head cool and covered all day. Got lots of nice comments too!
All in all, a red letter day for this old man. Oh, and Buff was actually born in 1883, so he's LOT older than I am....don't let him fool ya. 8-[
High regards! Michaelson

The Michaelson Classic. Sounds like a golf tournament. A miniature golf course tournament, but a golf tourney, nonetheless....Hemingway Jones wrote:Ken,
Thanks for posting that photo. It's nice to Michaelson making an appearance around here and in his trusty new hat and blue plaid shirt, which is becoming a Michaelson classic.

Michaelson: Great stash! Very Kaiser Wilhelm. Dig on my friend. Have you ever been to this site?

They have every bit of info for the modern massive stash wearer. I was wearing one like the cowboy poet Waddie Mitchell for a while but it got to be a bit much.
Cheers!

I was actually asked to join a couple years ago. They apparently saw a photo of me on the web after a few of the first IJ summit pictures were posted, and I got this interesting email from this group. I haven't sent in my dues yet, but I may someday. I'd even get a club tie and everything. I almost deleted the email when I first saw the title, as I thought it was spam, but decided to take a chance and open the link. This is the link I was sent.DanielJones wrote:Michaelson: Great stash! "Michaelson Classic"?! Let's not go there. The Fieldmaster model 1936 works for me just fine, but I DO like the idea of a putt-putt tourney. The winner should get a blue checked jacket!

Michaelson: I had just happened upon the site a few years back when I was looking bor a better stache wax. So far the best one I've found is from jinglebobs.com. Great all day hold without reapplication. Give my stache a bit of a Salvador Dali look if I'm not careful.
Oh, and by the way, very nice lid! I've been in contact with JJ and hope to be ordering mine near the end of this month. So far, I've heard nothing but good things about his hats. Enjoy yours in good health my friend.
Cheers!

Thank you Dan. I have!
On the wax, I've tried a lot of stuff, some good, some not so good. It's pretty hard to determine when you live where I do....heat and humidity doesn't care WHAT you have in your 'stache, it will droop in time unless you use a REAL hard wax, and then it's next to impossible to comb out at days end.
SO, I've just let her go to 'seed', and what you see is what I've worn for about 3 years now. The young Commodore Vanderbilt look! (grins)
But, back to the Camptown....glad to hear you have one in the works. A great hat.
Regards! Michaelson

Sorry to hijack this thread JJ. But, Michaelson, The Jinglebob wax works great. It has an all day hold without being too stiff yet washes out at the end of the day with just some hot water. Heck, I've even gone swimming in Lake Tahoe with the stuff on and it never lost its hold.
Now, on to your hat Michaelson. How is the feel of the felt? Is it velvety or a little softer feeling to the touch? Let me know your honest evaluation of this hat, I'd love to hear it. Is it fairly stiff out of the box or is it easily shaped dry without steam? I know, I'm just full of questions. But I usually do about two months research on something asking oodles of questions before I make my purchase. I usually know I'm going to buy something but I love to have as much info as possible. Thanks for all your input.
Cheers!

It feels just like a beaver AB out of the box, I'm sure due to the beaver content, and is fairly stiff, but is loosening up with wear. About the same physical weight as one of the beaver AB's too....maybe a bit heavier. My BIGGEST 'like' of the hat is it's ventilated roan sweatband. Even with the weight and denseness of the felt, it's still 'wearable' in this summer heat and humidity. I had the brim trimed back to 2 3/4", as the supplied hat had to much brim for me, and after that was done, it was perfect for me. Regards! Michaelson
