Sizing - Shoulders, how wide?

Post by IndyK »

I have just received my new Wested and this time I ordered it a size bigger than my first to make room for a sweater(and a few extra pounds I have gained in a mysterious way...).
The jacket is great, off course, but I suddenly started wondering how wide the shoulders should be. The new jacket is very comfortable to wear, with lots of room for movement, but it also looks like its hanging a bit on me. I like that look from the front, but I'm not sure about the back. Does it look the way its supposed to? I'm a little woriied about how it may look if I ever get rid of those extra pounds :D

Hope to hear from some of You who has been meassured up by Peter B. himself.

Cheers Indy-K

Isn't it odd how that's happened? I have experienced the same thing, and I'm clueless as to the problem! 8-[

VERY nice jacket, Indy-K! Looks very good on you, and should prove VERY comfortable as you require zipping it up, and layering sweaters for cooler weather, and, uh, otherwise. I had the same thing done when I got my FS goatskin made up years ago....and for exactly the same reasons...

Ahhh this freaks me out! I am a 42 chest and I got a 44....do you think it'll be too small?

I think your jacket looks cool man! I can see it hangs a tad low on your shoulders, but I wouldn't sweat it at all! I think those wrinkles in the back give it some interest!

It looks goo to me IndyK

Murphy, don't worry. If you ordered a size up the jacket will be a little loose. :)

I ordered my jacket TWO sizes up, and it fits perfect. I don't know what happened there. I measue a 40" chest, and ordered a 42", and it's great.

K, I don't think the jacket looks like it's "hanging" off you, to be perfectly honest. I think it looks good. What material is it?

Thats what I was refering to as a size up. I tend to over look the uneven sizes. I wear a 44L but ordered a 46L. The fit is great, but when and if I ever get another it will be a 44L, just to get a little more trim look. :)

Looks fine to me...I might loosen the side straps a bit---looks like they are pulled tight, but that's just me. A sweater will fill that out just fine.

Thanks to all of You for Your inputs. I will decide what to do when I've analyzed the chances of myself loosing weight :D

Indiana Tone, You're absolutely right - It's goat. And what a good surprise it was to see the beautifull color (authentic brown). It looks like it's 'gonna be lots of fun distressing it and maybe put just a little screen-accuracy into it.
I like the way the Wested goat-authentic brown match the shirt & pants as shown in this photo.

They are Wested pants. I received them last week, so the color should be very much up to date. It is also the wested shirt, but the light is a little harder here than on the first pics above. It does however look great together.
