I think Steve does the initials standard. I didn't think to ask about it when I ordered, but sure enough when I got my hat my initials were in it.

erri_wan, welcome to the rabbit club! We seem to be pretty few. :)

I didn't ask for the initials in my hat, and as such, I don't have them. So I don't think they come standard. :)

Congratulations on your purchase, erri wan. If you're as happy with yours as I have been with mine, well, let's just say that's really cool.

Oh, and the obligatory: PICS! PICS, MAN! PICS!

No no the hat will be on my head  not on a table

Hat

Post by Spooky »

Erri_wan:

Congratulations !
I also just ordered an Adventurebilt (Beaver, Idol Grab).
I did ask for initials. NEVER been a hat wearer ... I think I'll take it to the zoo to break it in & (start to) get comfortable wearing it around.

Fedora Owners: Just curious, ...
Do you guys wear your hats "a lot?" (e.g. to the grocery/hardware store, etc. ...)

Strider: I will post some pics on your thread also ... :)

Thank you Spooky and good choice about the beaver, everyone told me it's the best. Unfortunately i was able to afford just the rabbit by now, but in the future, who knows!?!

I have a stetson hat myself and i wear it enough, expecially when it's a sunny day (it's much better than sunglasses i think) and i bring it with me when i go for shopping, to the postal office and in town :D

Erri, I'll host photos for you if you need me to. Just e-mail any pictures you want me to host to AdventureJones@gmail.com.

Spooky, I wear my Adventurebilt everywhere. I rarely ever leave the house without it on my head. If you're not used to it now, you'll grow into it :)

Jens: My friends barely recognize me without it anymore. I had someone drive by me one day, somewhat slowly, and didn't respond when I waved at them. So I phoned them up on my cell to tell them they had just driven past me, and they said: "Really? I didn't see your hat, so I didn't know it was you!"

That is a GREAT looking hat!! Well done!

Yep, those are pretty hot in the summer, aren't they? I'm going to drop this hint again, but man, I sure wish a ventilated sweatband could be offered for the AB. (we now see Michaelson dive under his desk as Fedora throws an old hat block in his general direction, as he's tired of hearing this from Michaelson all the time!)   Regards! Nice looking AB erri! I would make 1 tweak though. I'd push top of the crown (just above the front pinch) down just a bit, to get those camel humps. It seems like that part always pops up during shipping. :)

Yup, steam. Put a tea kettle full of water on the stove. Once it begins tp steam hold that part of the hat about 8" from the kettle. 10 or 15 sconds should be long enough, if not try longer, but don't get too close. This will soften up the felt and allow you to shape it. This is the technique I used to bash my AB. If your not comfortable with the steam then use a spray bottle of water and lightly wet the felt. :)

As long as you don't get too close to the kettle or hold it in the steam too long it won't hurt it. Its better to use a little steam and take a little longer than it is to blast your hat with a quick burst of steam. 8" will be fine, heck if you want a little farther away won't hurt anything. It really shouldn't take much, it will probably take longer for the water to start boiling than it will for the tweak.

Yes, it looks kinda "used in adventure". On the other hand: If you want to wear the Fedora as "dress hat", it is not that hard to remove the sweat marks from the ribbon ...

Dont know if anyone of you have the same on his/her hat. On the brim just around the "body" of the hat, the colour of the fur is a bit different, slightly lighter. It's hard to see and not bad looking anyway. I'm just wondering if anyone else has this.

I also like this look. You just have to wear it when it's hot; Harrison did it, too!
And after a few sandstorms, sweat stains, Nazi fights etc. your hat just screams RAIDERS! 8)
