Can anyone help me figure out what Co. made my old fedora?

Post by Wrightknife »

Hello all,

I have an old Indy Fedora from 84-85 that I purchased out of a magazine 20 years ago. It is a licensed Lucasfilm Indiana Jones Authentic hat with a round white label stuck on the inside top of the hat with a picture of Indy and the Indian Jones logo. The label reads "TM 1984 Lucasfilm LTD (LFL). All rights reserved John B. Stetson Company Authorized User". The hat was about $50 back then. It has been through many an adventure and still looks great but it looks a little small to me. The sweatband seam has broken but the ribbon on the inside back is holding it together. I still love the hat but have ordered an Akruba Federation for now. My question is, was it actually made by Stetson or did they contract them out? If so, who made it?

Thanks

If the sticker is stuck to the inside of the hat rather than printed on a liner, it's more than likely a wool felt version, and was made by Stetson. They started contracting their fur felt versions out in 1985/86 or so to Dobbs in Canada. Regards! Michaelson

Sticker & Follow up ribbon question.

It is stuck on with the sticker. Also, the ribbon is faded pretty bad, does anyone know where I can get a new "authentic color" ribbon?

I think Todd's Costumes sells ribbon. Contact him on the board via "puppetboy" and there's probably a link to his website on his profile page.

I like how the ribbon is like $2.00, and the shipping is $15.00.
