Need Help: Ordering an AUTHENTIC Crusade Wested
HI guys!
I'm planning to order my first (!) Wested, LC style. Peter's coming to the European Summit in a few days, so I use the chance to get measured.
Now I wanted to ask YOU (whoever is experienced with Wested jackets) what directions I have to go. I'm really clueless where to begin...
- What kind of leather should it be? (I want do DISTRESS it myself )
- What lining should I choose?
- Which zipper?
- any extras to keep in mind?
etc.
It would be MUCH appreciated for any help you guys can give me. Again, I want a really AUTHENTIC, SCREEN ACCURATE jacket.
Thankx and regards,

The man who probably knows more about the LC jacket here, as well as can answer ALL the questions you've posted is 'whipwarrior'. I'd suggest you drop him a PM. He'll be able to tell you everything you ever wanted to know to make your LC as accurate as it possibly can be. The LC jacket has been his passion for many years. High regards! Michaelson

Thank you for the kind recommendation, Michaelson. Now, the most important aspect of an authentic, screen-accurate LC jacket (in my opinion) is the correct storm flap/collar configuration.
* What kind of leather should it be? (I want do DISTRESS it myself)
The movie jackets were original dark brown lambskin, which while not the most durable leather, distresses beautifully.
* What lining should I choose?
The jackets made for Last Crusade had linings of 100% dark satin. The satin that Wested currently offers is of a different type, though.
* Which zipper?
Near as I can tell from the film, it's antiqued brass snaps and buckles, but the zipper appears to be silver nickel.
* Any extras to keep in mind?
Extras are purely optional. The Last Crusade jacket offered by Wested comes with the correct-sized larger collar, pockets designed to accomodate the Grail diary, and requisite snaps on the storm flap. I specified (and included pictures) with my recent horsehide LC, to show the correct detail on the top snap, but it was overlooked due to the long delay time between when I placed the order, and when it was actually produced. I would bring pictures to show Peter in person, to make sure they do it right. I would also enlighten Wested about this detail, and encourage them to make it standard on all Last Crusade jackets from now on.

Oh, that wasn't my jacket. That was a picture of the actual film-used jacket in the Smithsonian. My jacket can be seen on my website:
