Congrats on your purchase! Tell your wife that your feet are your most reliable transportation and that they require proper foot care in order to last. That should do it.

Tell her that they will last five times longer than most shoes so you are actually saving money.:)

I think that may be the fastest time on the special order Aldens. I know some people got theirs faster by walking into the store and buying them, but three days is quick.

That is good to hear. We all know that sort of customer service is getting more and more difficult to find.

Bastoon,

Congrats on your Aldens !!

What, if anything are you planning on doing to them (dyeing/tinting, Pecard's coat, etc.). Mine should arrive next week. Please report out on how their 'breaking in' progresses.

I miss the look of new Aldens.

I took my Aldens on a jungle trek in Belize, Central America. I didn't plan on getting them wet. However, being the start of the rainy season, it just poured as we were on the trail. There was nothing I could do and my boots were soaked through and through.

When I got back to the lodge, I dried the out for 2 days using a fan then packed them in my suitcase.

When I returned home in the states, I cleaned them and put Pecards on them. They have been like that for a week now. I need to check to see how they are doing.

RonC once said to me, if you are in a survival situation, and you lose your shirt, you can probably make it back safely. If you rip or tear your pants, you still have a chance of getting back. If your shoes, however, start to fall apart and fail, your chances of getting out of the situation alive greatly diminish. Now, I wasn't in a survival situation but I felt a lot better knowing I had to go the distance, Aldens would get me there.

I don't suggest you do this purposefully but at the same time, don't be afraid to trust your Aldens.

My rule is don't cheat your feet.
