Lost World jackets-question from a newbie
I stumbled upon the Lost World site and their jackets. Seem very expensive compared to the other ones I've seen at flightjacket.com, us wings, etc.
Anybody have any comments about the Lost World items?
Thanks for your kindness with this newbie.

I think Jeff is referring to these guys -
http://www.lostworldsinc.com/
I think they are mentioned in some of the past threads, one pretty recently.
I''d have a look around in the archives. Still, I'm pretty sure someone will chime in though.

Try ebay. I got a $750.00 Lost World's Ryder horsehide jacket for $200.00. (Brand new).

Re: Lost World jackets-question from a newbie
What strikes me as being something undesirable, at least judging from the pix shown, is that the pocket placement appears to be rather far from the zipper. I'm speaking mostly of the A-2 jackets. I once had a G-1 with pockets placed so far from the zipper that they were practically riding on my hips and I can tell you it was incredibly odd looking, and annoying to me. Other than that, I can't comment on anything else without more specific information.colorado jeff wrote:I stumbled upon the Lost World site and their jackets. Lost Worlds is a company run by a guy named Stuart. He is somewhat
of a crackpot, and is prone to say some very bad things about anyone
who makes a jacket similar to his that is just as good, if not better, at
half the price of his. He is nowhere near as nice as Peter from Wested,
or the people over at FlightSuits that we are used to dealing with.
If you go over to the Vintage Jacket forums, of which I am also a
member, there are hundreds of threads about Stuart, and his distaste
for companies like Eastman Leather, or Aero Leather Company, or
Real McCoys.
His specialty is WWII jackets like the A-2 and B-3. They are nicely
made jackets, but they are not twice the quality of what else is out
there by the Eastman, Aero or Real McCoys.
One of the things that people write about on the VJF is how Stuart will
sabotage most e-bay auctions of his older stuff, or make fun of, and make
nasty remarks twards the other companies out there by saying their
products are sub-standard compared to his even though he knows this is
not true.
What he likes to do is write to the people who are bidding on the jackets
that are for sale on e-bay that he made years ago. He will tell the bidders
that they are not real Lost World products, even though the owners
bought the jackets years ago directly from Stuart himself and have proof
of this!
He will also complain to e-bay, and write nasty messages to the sellers
also.
If anyone even thinks about complaining about one of his products, that
person will be the recipeient of curse words, ethnic put downs, and
sexual orientation cuts. He is not a very nice person at all.
His jackets are nice, but I would not want one for the fact that if I ever
had a problem with it, he will tell me the jacket is perfect, and I am just
a girly man who doesn't know his arse from a hole in the ground and
much, much worse.
Even if the jacket actually has problems, he will never, ever admit that
he made a mistake in the making of the jacket.
As a matter of fact, over on the VJF, people with older Lost Worlds stuff
compare it to what he offers now, and you can see how he has changed
his patterns to be more authentic now, versus years ago, but Stuart will
not admit this even though you can see the difference for your own eyes.
He will just put you down, call you names, question your sexuality, and
tell you that you don't deserve his jacket. Thats not the type of person
I would ever do business with.
But if you try to sell off an older jacket on e-bay, and say in your
auction that its an older, less accurate made jacket, he will sabotage your
auction. If you want proof, just ask the guys at the VJF about it. I have
read so many stories about Stuart that its not even funny anymore.
He makes a nice product, but for twice the price, and for the way he
treats his customers I would never endorse him or his products.
For proof of all of this, just go to the VJF and read all about Lost Worlds
for yourself:

Thanks
I appreciate the feedback. I called Lost Worlds on a jacket there today..not an Indy jacket (which I have) but on a motorcycle jacket. Turns out the one I want would be custom..and therefore would have to be paid for up front...
Not in this lifetime..
Thanks for all your help. I'll stick with the jackets recommended here on the list.
