Pouting about my pants

My darling wife MACHINE WASHED and TUMBLE DRIED my Noel Howard TOD trousers yesterday, failing to notice a stain, which now appears to be permanently set. I wear these as the dress trousers they are intended to be, as they are far too expensive for any other use by a rational person.

To say that I am slightly peeved would be about right...

Er, yes, well, that's just it. I've had these trousers for three years, and this is the first time she's done the laundry in that time...

Aren't the Noel Howard pants wool? If she machine washed and dried WOOL pants, aren't they pretty much destroyed from that anyway? Doesn't that make the stain problem moot?

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought. We'll know for sure when I pick them up from the dry cleaner.

schwammy, if the dry cleaning doesn't work you might try rewashing the pants wih Shout stain remover sprayed on there or rub some Oxyclean mixed with a small amount of water on it before the next wash. Of course, being these are wool, proceed with caution. Oh and the warmer the water, the easier it is to get a stain out.

As a postmortem, the trousers came back from the dry cleaner looking pretty presentable. They don't seem to be seriously harmed from the machine washing / drying, and I can't find any trace of the stain. The only real difference is that the pockets feel strange when you put your hands in them, as though they may have shrunk somewhat. Other than that, all is well. Thank you all for your kind advice / condolences.

The pockets will stretch back out with use. No problems. That's a natural reaction of lining type materials to dry cleaning solution. Glad it's all sorted out! Regards! Michaelson

Just an f.y.i., S.C. Johnson/Shout makes pocket wipes to pre-treat stains. I have used them and they completely remove stains before washing! Great to keep in a desk, car, etc.
