A Poor Pic of My Black Adventurebilt

Post by fedoralover »

This pic is with one of those darn throw away camera's but at least you can see the hat is really black and not purple. I'm just going to have to get another camera.

I have never thought much about getting a black fedora but now I'm considering it. That hat is great!

Along with fedora's, I also collect exotic bamboo's. I have around 40 varieties. The one in the picture is a rare golden yellow timber bamboo, "phylostachys Vivax Aureocaulis. It will get a lot bigger around than what you see it the pic.

For Fedoralover (& Fedora)--Ahhhh...bamboo. Ive got some and keeping after it is some job. If y'all like bamboo, you should see Szechuan province in SW China...they have forests of that stuff so dense the sun cannot come thru, and so thick you cannot walk thru it. Great Pic of your bamboo! I would love to go and see it if I were able. The American Bamboo Society actually sends people into China on expeditions to try and find new varieties. The one in my pic has only been in the United States about 5 or 6 years. I can see myself going on a Bamboo research expedition with an Adventurebilt fedora on. Unfortunately they only send highly qualified botantists with a specialty in bamboo identification. Not exactly a quest for the Lost Ark but a quest through the jungle none the less.

It's a light weight felt "Dobbs 2 Ouncer" probably from the mid 40s. It's made for summer wear, no liner just a sticker on the inside of the crown. On the sweatband it says Dobbs 2 Ouncer. It also has a corrigated sweatband section at the back, I'm assuming to let air into the crown. It was in like new condition with a box when I got it for the whopping price of $31.00.

Also, while this isn't the American bamboo societies website, it is a very good one nonetheless. This nursery is only 2 hours from where I live and I just visited it a few months ago.
