IOAB improved

Post by winrichwhips »

http://www.savepic.com/freepicturehosti ... rshall.jpg

Here's the new and improved IOAB bullwhip. Instead of the old lead shot core it has an all-leather core. It has the 3-pass turk's head as well as a traditional Australian-style fall. After handling one of Paul Nolan's Strain Indys this past weekend I decided to make my IOAB bullwhips handle in a similar way. It doesn't handle exactly like one of Joe's whips, but it's a lot closer than my previous IOAB bullwhips.

This whip is going to DavidM.

Luisiana;
Try opening the link in MS Internet Explorer in case you use another program. That works for me as it doesn't show up in Firefox.

Adam;
Smashing!

I might just have to get myself another one! :shock: :D

Would it be possible to attach a fall the same way to the old IOAB as you have done with this new one?

Luis,

I'd post the pic, but for some reason my html code just doesn't work. I'll email you the pic. Yes, your whip will be done like this new one.

Swindy,

Yes, I can attach a fall to the old one just like the one on this new whip, though shipping to and from Sverige could be kind of dyrt. How's that for Swinglish?!?

Zach,

Your whip was made with leather core, but it has my old style knot on the butt and my old style fall.

How's it working for you?

Adam,
you deffinatly have created
a good whip for people on a low budget. With that change
in the knot it looks even more indylike. Its intresting theres enough
wheight in there to help it crack with out lead, does this make a change
in the handleing at all?

Adam,

The main difference in the handling is that now you can crack it without wearing your arm out as fast :wink:

I know there were coments with my first few models about the weight and how tiring the whip was. Now that the whip is lighter it doesn't crack as loud, but it is still balanced and cracks easily.

That's 100% correct svengelska, my friend. ;)

What I really meant was to ask if it would be difficult to do it myself? It looks like that is the way that most falls are attached to other whips and it might be a good idea to learn how to do it anyway. Does the thong need to be unbraided for it to work, or do you basically attach it by wrapping it around the thong in a complex manner? :D

EDIT: I found THIS PIC. Is this the basic idea, only you wrap it around a few more times than what is shown?

Swindy,

Det dar fall hitch ser bra ut. In the pic it looks like they tied tre hitches, but you would tie fyra i din piska. The pic ser ut liksom det skulle vara easy to follow, den enda saken som jag kunde add is to be sure to grease the strands and the fall before you start tying and then use plyers to pull the hitches really tight.

Lycka till!
