2 of my many original MK VII bags (pics)

Post by Houdini »

I was bored and had my fiancee take pictures of 2 of my MK VII Indy bags for some friendly gloating. There are two pictures. The first is of the bags closed and the second is of them with the flap open. The bag on the left is my first and favorite Indy bag; the one on the right is my latest acquisition. Yes, they are original WW2 bags. I have quite a few of these bags (all MK VII and all WW2 original). There are some places I go that I score them often and very cheaply.
To answer questions in advance that I know will probably be asked:

NO I will not sell any of my bags
NO I will not reveal where I get them.

Once in a while I do buy some of them off ebay when for some queer reason no one seems to bid and therefore the price is right. Also, many times when I get these bags (ebay or elsewhere) they come with the gasmask which I never want, so I always sell the mask (listing one tonight in fact).
Lastly I will say that my sources for these bags stem from the fact that I am an avid collector of American WW2 memorabilia. Being a huge Indy fan and that fact that Indy used a WW2 bag (British, I know -- that's why I don't care to keep the actual gasmask) was just a happy coincidence to link these two hobbies of mine.

(don't know how to post pictures directly, which is fine since I'm on dial-up any way, so just copy and paste the links to see the 2 bags). Pics are large in size but NOT file size (about 80 or so kbs)

Hope you like 'em.

Pretty cool. 8)

What sort of strap is on the one on the left? Is it homemade?

That strap, my friends, is a Noel Howard (that's his last name, right? It's been a while). Since that was my first Indy bag, I was able to order a strap from him/MBA when he was still selling. I know it's not screen acurate, but it is a Noel strap which I think is cool.

Hey you got two great bags... they seem to be in perfect conditions.
How much did you pay for them?

(do you have any strap to sell me? lol)

Yeah a picture of all my bags would be cool but I don't have a digital camera. My fiancee was helping me move back home for the summer from school and she had her camera with her to take pictures since she was staying with me at home for a week. So I had her take a quick shot of those two bags which were with me at school. When she comes again maybe I'll get her to take more pics.
Straps to sell? Sorry, the only leather strap I have is that Noel one you see in the picture. I never got around to getting straps for the rest of my bags, so they all still have the webbing strap on them.
Yeah, all my bags are in very good shape. I don't buy them if they are too beat up, ripped, or have holes.
As I say that bag on the left is my very first Indy bag which I purchased many moons ago off ebay. I paid 30 for it. When I get my bags from my sources that aren't ebay I usually pay 5-15 bucks. Nice, eh?
I have a little problem, I know. Everytime I see one of these bags I just can't pass it up. It's like Mel Gibson in Conspiracy and his compulsion to by copies of The Catcher in the Rye, I guess.
I have the same problem in all my hobbies. For instance, I collect Transformers and usually just buy collections from people. So I wind up with lots of duplicates, but because the price per figure is so cheap I just keep the duplicates. I have 12 Grimlocks (the T-Rex if you know Transformers). I don't need 12 Grimlocks but I just can't part with them!!
Same with the bags -- I just have to keep them.

But the real prob with collecting its not only that bags may be addicting for you, its that every single item can be an addiction, if not look at fedoras...you can have tons of them and each of them are different, or whips each size ,each brand...or jackets, each movie each leather, each distressing, no comment really i think ill be bankrupt all my life

BEAUTIFUL, Pagey!

Better post it in the thread so it doesn't get lost if you change your avatar. ;)

When you're mad, does the steam show through the vents? :D
