In case anyone has wondered if Fedora can make anything that doesn't look exactly like Indys fedora, check this out. A 100% beaver felt fedora in black. I can't wait to get it hopefully later this week. Steve told me every picture he took of it looked like everything BUT black, but that it is indeed black with a vintage iron black ribbon.
Congrats on your new hat from steve. It looks purple, but I'm sure it's black if steve say's it is. Anyway it looks great , hope you post some pics of you wearing it sometime soon.
Yup, it looks purple to me too, but knowing fedora like I do, I seriously doubt he would stock any felt in purple. When I get it I'll try to take some more pics and see what happens with a different camera.
I thought I was going nuts!! I took over 20 pics, inside and outside, and for some reason, my digital camera refused to show it black, but black it is, no doubt about that. I took pics prior with this same camera of a black hat with no problem. One of the pics that I took, outside, showed a neon purple hat!!! All of the ones took inside, showed the hat to be dark brown. Here, I will post a link of the bow pic, and you can see what a coal black hat looked like. May be time to shop for a new camera.
Do you have a white balance function on your camera, Steve? Under direct sunlight, you're throwing cyan into the mix, and that's why your black is going purplish. Inside, you're using incadesent lighting, and that can throw yellow in the mix, hense brown.

Cameras "See" colors differently than they eye. If the color metering of the camera is off, or not particularly sophisticated, it may be measuring all dark colors as similar tones. Try a picture against an all white background, like a whitewashed wall or a sheet and that should show the hats true color. -Just a suggestion.
Awesome hat! Great shape!

That's called 'white balancing', like I said above. Regards. Michaelson

ZZZnn-snrkkk!!~!!! Huh... somebody call me?
Hey, Fedora, got any of that Rick James felt left? Seriously, it sounds like you need to white balance your camera to me. Seriously, Michaelson was around before they invented color.
Heck, the entire WORLD was in black and white until the late 50's....didn't you know that? Watch some old news clips and you'll see. Regards! Michaelson

And now I'm sucking down a juice box. Go figure. Fully grown adult, and I'm still drinking juice boxes.
Fedora, have you figured out how to take a pic that makes the hat LOOK black yet? And I forget, is this a custom order colour, or just the charcoal? Either way, I like the look of it!
bink who at least doesn't cut the crust off his peanut butter sandwiches

I would never charge anyone for that my autograph. However, shipping and handling can be rather expensive.

Not many people know this, but I posed for Michealson's cave paintings
That explains the simplicity of the drawings. And Snakewhip, you're NOT supposed to eat the cardboard?
bink
Simplicity? I prefer to think of it as understated. Bink, you should keep eating the cardboard. How else are you going to get fiber in your diet? Trust me.
