the trekdirect bag
Has anyone seen or bought the "Indy bag" from trekdirect and is it ok?
I don't like the idea of stripping a real WWII bag (but i do respect those who do (: ) so I'm considering buying the new bag from trekdirect.
But if it's to "un-screen'ish" I'll just end up buying the real deal anyway.
I'm trying to put together the whole outfit and has to save a buck when ever i can that's why i don't just buy
a real bag or the WPG bag.

Hmm. Nice Mk VI replica. Does it have the "back pocket flap" too?
IIRC, there was a discussion re: this bag a while ago...
EDIT: yes - there was.

Thanks Scandinavia Jones, that link pretty much answers all my questions.
Now there's no more excuses, I'll have to cough up the cash.
How vain of me to think that I actually found something on the net
that wasn't all ready discovered by one of the fine Archaeologist's in this great fan forum.

And thanks ob1al for "the bigger picture", it looks like the real deal to me.

The string is a throw back to the old gasmask bags, as you hung the bag over your neck with the bag in FRONT of you, and the string was tied around your waist to keep it from twisting around. The ONLY thing I see that I don't like is the D rings that hold the strap to the bag. I've had bags with D rings, and there's just no way of keep them from twisting around. If this was my bag, I'd replace with round rings.
Otherwise, that's one FINE looking bag!!! High regards! Michaelson

Michaelson,
Actually, look a bit closer, those look like narrow oval slider type fasteners. They wouldn't turn. I think those are fine, it's just that dang logo!
have a nice day

The proper way to get rid of embroidery is to take an electric shaver to the stitching on the back/inside of it, then pull the threads out of the front with your fingers. Just an FYI. I used to be an embroidery tech.crazylegsmurphy wrote:Personally, if it were my bag, step one would be to grab a stitch puller and get rid of that logo!

The color is almost as in the non flash pictures, only a little darker and warmer. I would call it a warm sand color.IndyDoc wrote:So what color is it actually? In the non-flash pictures it looks tan and when you used the flash it looks somewhat green but not nearly as green as the one on their website.

I think it is a pretty accurate Mk-VI replica -with out being a bag expert- but even the strap is identical to the pics on http://www.gasmasklexikon.com/Bilder/Mk ... K-0014.jpg
