Cotton Wested Raiders jackets

Post by Michaelson »

For the new folks who are probably not aware, Wested Leather Co. offers the Raiders jacket in dark brown cotton, using the same patterns as the original jackets from the movie. As we approach warm weather in the Northern Hemisphere, and you're thinking about obtaining something for warmer weather, it's something that you may want to give consideration. They're very comfortable too. I've probably worn my cotton jacket more than my other jackets combined.

Just wanted to put that out there in case you new folks who have just joined us were not aware. The full jacket details can be found at the Wested website, just click on the link below, then the 'cotton Raiders' box on the page that opens up. In looking at the photo, I'm pleased to see Peter's added the snap to the bottom of the storm flap. Not technically 'screen accurate', it sure helps the flap from moving around when zipped. The old models didn't have this. GOOD SHOW, Peter!

Regards! Michaelson

I've been considering this jacket for months- I finally ordered one about a week ago, and I can't wait to get it! :D

This would be one sweet jacket if you could have it made without the corduroy collar. It's kind of funny-looking, IMHO.

I believe you can get a leather color in its stead.

Delivery of my cotton Wested is to be made today. I am purchasing it from ij1936. Spring has arrived in my part of town and my lamb is too warm to wear.

I will post pics and a review this weekend.

Actually, the website says you can specify that the collar can be corduroy OR plain cotton. I opted for the latter, as that corduroy DOES look a tad strange.

I guess pics will be in order whenever it gets here. (A few more weeks, I imagine.) :)

I still think you could get leather if you asked, but I could be wrong. I frequently am.

I'm not sure about that, HJ. I believe you're thinking of the Wings version, that DOES come with a washable leather collar. Regards! Michaelson

Has anyone ever tried to dye it a darker shade of brown since it seems to be a "Whiter Shade of Pale" -I mean a lighter shade of khaki? Dalexs must have tried in his secret castle laboratory.

BTW, that is a good looking jacket.

I know someone did-

Was probably Dalexs-and I don't remember how it turned out either. Perhaps someone with more operable brain cells than I can chime in....

yeah-I'm of absolutely no help  ....

Later!

Nope, believe it or not, it was 'Fallguy', who suggested the creation of a cotton IJ jacket in the first place when we were all still at Indyfan. It came out looking just like the current Wested color too! Regards. Michaelson

Now I remember. He came up with the lighter project, too, didn't he?

Glurrk,
You got it... I don't know how I messed that one up. I like the idea of a cotton jacket, but I don't want the leather collar. I'd love to get the Wested, but I'd prefer it in khaki.

I haven't looked at the USW jacket yet but the Wested cotton is very nice. I would love a review on fit once some folks get theirs...very nice indeed.

Got my cotton Raiders jacket- It's great! :D

Image
The first pic is under non-fluorescent lights, and the second pic is in cloudy, overcast daylight (I apologize for the quality- it's a blown-up pic, so it is grainy.)

Thanks, guys! :D

One thing I forgot to mention- The zipper on the jacket is designed for a left-hander. Even though I'm right-handed, this isn't a big deal to me. It just takes a little getting used to. Regardless, it is still a wonderful jacket. (Keeps you warm, too!) :D

Although it would certainly serve that purpose, the zipper is on the other side on all jackets produced in the UK.
