Here's some pics of a Stetson from the 40s, a Stetson Vita-felt, despite it's age notice that the crown is very straight sided

here's a comparison of it next to an Akubra Federation Deluxe. Notice the huge difference in felt and the crown shapes.

This isn't to knock the Akubra but just to show the difference in the felt of old verses new.

That Stetson is incredible! Nice bound brim. I would love to have a vintage lid like that.

I can't say that I'm a fan of the bound brim, but that old Stetson nevertheless has class- definitely! :D

I like the last pic. The bound brim really matches it well.
