This hat has been thoroughly thrashed with rain and rolling for travel and crushed over and over again. It's a tuff hat. Very thin and very floppy, Very tough.
Only flaws I have found is the brim being too perfect (not cut awkward like swales cut) and slight taper. It tapered less than I have seen other's Optimo's taper.
The pinch and shaping is from naturally grabbing the crown. I use this as a utility hat.
The current light weight offerings from Optimo are a bit thicker.

I wish I had one of those! I've always wanted a floppy felt. The Raiders hat was definitely very floppy - watch his brim when he's hanging on to the truck!
You have had one Pagey. The new HJs are very floppy. The early Optimos were too floppy for an Indy fedora. Ask the owners of the earlier ones. I had 3. regards, Fedora
I know what you mean. The only trouble with my Optimos is that that same gust of wind would leave your crown looking like it had been.....stepped on. Imagine the feather from Forrest Gump hitting your crown and completely changing the bash. Not quite that bad, but pretty close. There is a happy medium, and while the newer Optimos may be better, the old ones would drive you crazy trying to keep the bashes like you did em'. And, the brims would drive you crazy. I imagine when they made the felt thicker than cellophane, it helped out tremendously. Fedora
