Cooper Jacket

Post by Frankiana Jones »

Hello, can anybody tell me something about the quality of cooper jackets who have the lucasfilm license for the jackets in the 90th? how are they comparing with the actual wested jackets (better / not so good / nearly the same)? I am looking for a good screenlike jacket. Which price would be fair to pay for an original cooper jacket?

I don't know about the Cooper jackets made in the 90's. But if you want a screen accurate Indy jacket then I would get a Wested.

P.S. Please turn off the bold. Thats means your yelling at us!

And welcome to COW! :D

Ditto.

I don't have any experience with Coopers, but Wested makes a great jacket. Unless you've found a great deal on a Cooper jacket, I'd just go with the Wested. Screen-accurate and tailor made by English crafts-men to boot! :D :junior: -IJ

Didn't US Wings at one point employ Cooper to make their jackets? Not sure who they use now. I think the Disney jackets are made by Cooper, which may be what you meant by the lucasfilm licensed jackets.

There are really only "the big three" now. Wested, US Wings and Flight Suits. It's now clear that US Wings vary dramatically in their construction. Flight Suits now only sells off the rack but still want nearly $500.00. Wested is really the only choice in my opinion. It's a tailor-made jacket from the original makers for about $300.00 shipped.

I just recently sold my LC Cooper jacket on e-bay. It was a cowhide jacket which is heavy especially when wet. The fit was okay, not the greatest because I had to have the sleeves shortened. I purchased it through the Lucasfilm fan club in 1989. If I was still able to fit in it, I would have kept it. The leather came distressed and it was a dead ringer for the movie jacket.

I had a Cooper jacket that I purchased back in 1992. It was distressed cowhide. It was very heavy though soft and rugged. The distressing appeared to be by hand and not a uniform machine distressing like on some other leathers. It really looked beat up which I loved. When I first received it, my sister-in-law said that I had bought and old jacket.

I too had to get the sleeves shortened. The liner wore through after many years of wear, but the leather and stitches held up fine. Unfortunately, the jacket was ruined by a poor dry cleaning job that bleached out the color. I paid in the area of $250 for it new.

I now have a FS goat Expo. The Expo is touted for it's screen accuracy. In that regards the Cooper did have some noticeable differences such as right handed zipper, full length zipper, and press studs. I also seem to remember the hand warmer pockets being bigger. It was also much lighter in color than the Expo. Still, it was a great jacket.
