Finally able to buy my first fedora. Need your help

Post by TFrosst »

Since there are soooo many different fedoras' out there and so many choices, I need your help with finding the most screen accurate. I knwo all the brands and all the types in teh three films and want one in teh raiders style from teh bar scene in Cairo when he drinking with the monkey and talking the belloq. Which Fedora would give me the most accurate look for this? Color, shape ( I know that's custom but still), size, off center?, etc. thanks guys

There are SO many posts on this topic lately. Please do a search and look through old topics. Before asking questions look for old posts. This place is 4 years old theres plenty of info.

Adam's right - there have been a ton of hat posts recently all pointing to...the Adventurebilt.

Don't own one yet myself, but I plan to.

Ah, there's nothing to be sorry about. Its just that there is loads of info already on this subject out there. No need to rehash it all over again. :D
But if you can't find the answers your'll looking for ask.

So now I am in a predicament. I can get the adventurebuilt for $225 or I can get a herbert johnson for $225. Which one am I supposed to get? and how "off" is the Hj from the original. I've read a bunch of posts but I read nothing definite. Is the adventurebuilt as screen accurate as you can get? (might I also add that i'm interested in a raiders style fedora)

Just got both Herbert Johnsom (Todd's costume) and Adventurebilt (Steve Delk) this week. Herbert Johnson is rabbit felt were as the adventurebilt is beaver felt ( beaver felt being the better of the two ).

My honest opinion - no offense to any happy HJ owners (was one myself until recently) but in my opinion the current HJ's don't cut it in terms of quality. They taper very quickly and you are basically paying for the name only. It just doesn't seem like enough love or pride has been put into the manufacture of the current Hebert Johnson hats.

If I were you, I wouldn't go near the HJ. But from what I'm told...by everyone who's purchased one and judging by those I have seen in person..the AB seems to be the way to go.

Yep and don't forget that you can get the pure rabbit AB for $145. That alot cheaper than the HJ. From what I've read the current HJ are perfect for the LC look, but not the Raiders. However, the AB has the perfect Raiders block. If you can afford to spend $225 then I would go with the AB.

As far as I know, there are no unhappy Adventurebilt custumers. That's all you need to know.

Render,
I never really looked at your avatar before. Is your living room really so popular that you have to work part-time as a bouncer? You would look totally at home standing behind Capone in an old movie as he's making some kind of threat.
